Captain D’s planning to set sail in Baton Rouge market

About damn time.
- Per BR Business Report

Fast-casual seafood restaurant Captain D’s has plans to enter the Baton Rouge market, with hopes of establishing its first location here over the next year or so.
quote:
Michael Arrowsmith, chief development officer for the Nashville-based chain
quote:
“We hope to have the first site under contract in the next three to four months, and we would hope to be building the first restaurant in the next six to nine months,” he says, “and then we’ll go from there.”
The restaurant’s long-term goal is open as many as 10 to 15 restaurants in the greater Baton Rouge area, Arrowsmith says.
“And I think that’s a conservative number, actually,” he adds.
quote:
“We’re in a tremendous growth phase right now,” he says. “I would say that from a corporate perspective, Baton Rouge is the focus right now, but we think Louisiana is a fantastic state for our brand. We look at it as being a big area for Captain D’s down the road, so we’re looking in all areas of Louisiana.”

About time Louisiana got some decent seafood.

Why?
I will never eat at that place.

Why?
quote:
“One thing we do is listen to our customers, and when we hear from a lot of customers in a geographic area asking for the brand—as we have in the Baton Rouge area—we know that’s a good sign,” he says.
quote:
The interest in the Baton Rouge market comes as the company has experienced several years of steady growth. There are currently seven Captain D’s restaurants in Louisiana; the closest one to Baton Rouge is in Covington. Other restaurants are located in Alexandria, Leesville, Monroe, Ruston and Shreveport.

You can't stop Captain D's growth. You can only hope to contain it.

That shite looks disgusting. I'll stick with fresh catch and real Louisiana seafood off the boat.

Best seafood spot in Alexandria so it'll be a huge hit in BR

Sounds like Captain D's has had lots of callings for restaurants in North Louisiana...a testament to the AWESOME food choices in the great food cities of Ruston, Monroe and Alexandria.

Pretty sure they had one on Greenwell Springs Road, sort of near the old Belmont Hotel, years ago.

I live next to one, and I've only been twice in three years. I've never seen a single dish look even remotely like the ones in the picture.
The food is hot garbage, and any person in South Louisiana should be ashamed if they waste their time on over-priced, bland, sub-par, seafood.
With that said, the line to get in the drive-thru at this place usually wraps around the building and disrupts traffic back out onto the main drag.

Just because we all know it is crap doesn't mean there isn't a market for it.

I lived about 1500 ft. from a Captain D's for about 2 years. I didn't eat there once.
This was in Ohio, where good seafood is scarce.
It looks like a Long John Silver's knock-off....is that accurate?

Captain D's is opening locations? We've always had them, but I assumed all existing ones were just relics who hadn't gotten word of their own demise yet.

I wish chain restaurants would die in a fire.

Used to be one close to my house in Houston. It closed a couple years ago. I was bummed - they had the best chicken strips I had ever eaten. I really liked their fried okra, mac-N-cheese and hush puppies.
There is a captain D's in Leesville that has been there a long time. Unless it has closed since I last passed through there around Thanksgiving.

I would probably do these for a quick lunch instead of most other fast food places other than Taco Bell. Maybe not the fish tenders though.

Wasn't there one in Baker back in the 80s? I think I ate there once or twice.

FWIW, the fried sandwich is a go to for me when in a hurry for Friday lunch during lent.
