I think most posters here(well the ones arguing against D12) don't realize that the standards aren't the same for NBA v MLB and NFL HOFs. That's all I can come up with.

Yea but Gasol gets in on his NBA resume' alone.

I don't think Yao is a HOF. Didn't play long enough and was oft injured. And it's not like he made huge contributions internationally on the court.

Oh I agree, I was just adding to why I think it is a lock.

I don't know man. Basketball is huge in China now in large part due to Yao and I think he is still working with developing the game there.

Yao will get in because of the whole "global NBA" stuff

this is why we should have two separate HOF. Manu will nto doubt get in but he is not even close to being a HOF NBA player.

However, Dwight hasn't been marginally better than Mourning, he has been significantly better.

No doubt

I'd take Zo over Dwight because of character.

I mean if you're making a team you are more than welcome to do that

I just think on the court one has better stats in almost all meaningful ways

Yeah I was surprised to see anyone even debating Gasol's HOF merit. He's a lock.

Gasol is arguably a top 10 PF of all time. Kinda dampens Kobes' resume--- he needed 2 of the best big men of the last 15 years to win 5 rings

Duncan
Malone
KG
Barkley
Dirk
Petite
Hayes
Mchale
Gasol
Schayes/Webber (height, weight, athleticism, skill wise, Webber is the prototype PF. He's what you envision if you had to make a PF in a lab)

Arguably, yes.

But don't forget about:

Kemp
Rodman
DeBusschere
Elvin Hayes

Well then everyone's resume who has a ring is dampened in some way

And it's 5 rings. Not 1 or 2

Bro if Lebron was making Finals in CLE he's less likely to leave to MIA. That's not really debateable. D12 was the best player on the team that prevented him from making the finals. I don't see a hole in logic.
Safe to say he would still be there!!!

Same exact thing!!!

I can't believe I never that before.. If Dwight Howard wouldn't have never beat Lebron in the ECF, LBJ would have stayed in CLE his entire career.

There's not. It's not all that hard to get into the basketball hall of fame, either.

Kemp didn't have the prolonged success, Rodman didn't have the offense.

Gasol has basically been a post-centric 18/10/4/2 guy with 50/75 splits his whole career. That should get him in the HOF .

Plus he was arguably the finals MVP in 2010 too

Wilt Chamberlain, Mark Eaton and Nate Thurmond would make my list ahead of Wallace and Howard as defensive centers.
