How many people would believe me if I said one day there will be a soul harvest for the Lord on the OT?

Jesus did not say that. That was Paul.

First, did Jesus ever say anything about gays or getting stoned (weed, not actual stones)?
No. Nor did he ever talk about abortion.

Second, why is anyone quoting Paul if we're taking about Jesus?
Bingo.

Matthew 19
The Rich and the Kingdom of God
16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”
17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”
18 “Which ones?” he inquired.
Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, 19 honor your father and mother,’[c] and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’[d]”
20 “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?”
21 Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
22 When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.
23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”
25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?”
26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Not to get into a theological lesson here but you may be interested in learning about how the word hell has been misunderstood and Jesus's teachings misinterpreted. Here is one of many articles on the subject: LINK

I'm not in favor of justifying any public policies based on scripture. After all, last I checked, Jews, Muslims, atheists, and pagans were all allowed to vote in this country too, so it doesn't seem smart to try to govern based on the words of a religious figure that many Americans don't even identify with.
agreed

But, with that said, it's pretty rare for liberals to try to make their points by claiming that Jesus would support them. However, the Christian right LOVES to claim religion as the reasoning behind many of their policies from denying marriage equality to gay people, to banning abortions, and many other things. So, I think it's perfectly fair to say that if you want to impose those religious principles on people with the force of law, why is helping the poor suddenly the exception? If you think your personal interpretation of religion is a good reason to keep gay people from marrying or to tell a woman what she can and can't do with her own body, then you're a fricking idiot and hypocrite if you think it's wrong to apply that same principle to helping the needy.
Jesus wanted ppl to help the poor. He would prefer me giving X amount of dollars to charity Y instead of the government taking X dollars from me, paying government employees that watch porn on the job and take 20 smoke breaks/day, funding solar panel companies that go bankrupt, wasting it on a fighter jet that is not needed, etc and then giving whatever is left over to charity. No matter how you want to spin it, capitalism puts money into ppls pockets and then ppl can distribute that money to the poor better than a socialist government can. Just look at the condition of the poor in the US vs the poor in Cuba, North Korea, China, Venezuela or the USSR (when it existed).

"Except for the abortion thing"
Yeah, dude, except for the MAIN PART of liberalism, Jesus would be a liberal!
That's some seriously bad logic.

I don't either. I wish the government was less than half the size it is now. But the problem is that they want you to believe that those demographics are taking the majority of your tax money. Those examples are such a tiny minority and tiny part of the budget that they're virtually nothing compared to military spending for example. But God forbid that actuality is ever mentioned. All I'm saying is that it's a poorly defined issue that is more of a distraction technique than a real problem. It's a way to get people riled up and sold into the red team versus blue team.
I'm sure this happens but I think you underestimate the number of conservatives (even obnoxious ones) who recognize more than just a demographic drain. Social security and medicare have been absolutely run into the ground, and as a result, it's a gigantic weight around our necks. That's not limited to one demographic. But yes, the poor are predominantly dependent on government, which is a double loss for the country. The first obviously in that we devote resources to them that could go elsewhere, the second in that they're not helping us build infrastructure or innovate or anything else of value.
Your point about military spending is notable, but again, plenty of conservatives are on board with you there, especially today.
I agree with you that demonization exists, but I would also assert that the demonization is based in reality. I would add that government itself is a problem, in that we employ thousands and thousands of employees who could easily be replaced. Government employment, in many respects, is welfare. Which is especially frustrating in the circumstance in which you are helping to pay the salary of someone who is totally uninterested in your concern (or is actively trying to screw you).

Jesus didn't take money from people at gun point or with the threat of jail time.

Actually much of the new testament was written shortly after (less than 40 years) his death by people that personally knew him.

What is my response when someone says Jesus would've been a liberal?
I say that he was the greatest liberal to ever roam this earth. He lived his belief in love, justice and care for the poor. Jesus however did not look to the state to solve man's problems. He wanted individuals to care for the poor.sick, and hungry.
There is nothing wrong with being liberal as long as one does not use those views to take power. The trouble with liberals today is that they want the rest of us to make the sacrifices while they do not. It is about power not care for others.
It gripes me to no end that "environmentalists" like Prince Charles, Al Gore and Hollywood stars want to limit our carbon footprints while they travel the world in private jets and have swimming pools in every huge home. It's hypocritical.
Jesus gave up everything for us. He gave the ultimate. He talked the talk and walked the walk.

My bad. Obviously im in way over my head with this but I don't believe those that needed charity then can be compared to many of those that receive it now.
