Not one example in scripture where Jesus instructs to give your money to the government for social programs. He said pay your taxes, and individually to help the poor.

FEDERAL government employment is an issue to be closely watched. I hope that FedGov can monitor the issue and take measures to keep the payroll modest in size.
The counties surrounding Wash DC are among the wealthiest counties in the USA. There are plenty of FedGov civilian employees living there, and I suppose this is the reason why.
I disagree that military spending is a big problem for the USA. Spending that's wasteful is a problem anywhere it exists. The military is downsizing as rapidly as possible, so, if that is the will of the People, We the People are being obeyed by the Dept of Defense. Way to go DoD.
Sorry about the hi jack folks. The words of Jesus himself make it clear that he would not be in favor of government taking our money at gunpoint in order for government to spend it or give it away as govt sees fit.

they usually point out that Jesus advocated giving your money to the poor and not judging people, etc
Well, giving money to the poor and advocating the government to take higher taxes to redistribute to a certain voter base and simultaneously line their own pockets isn't the same thing.

26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
And thus, with this last line of a great teaching, man found a loophole; a way to control other men through powerful unquestionable religious institution and instill many more details, feelings, and beliefs to the masses that would lead to righteous genocides for centuries.
Okay, that was cynical, but uhh... Kinda wish they spoke more literally back then.

i would say no, Jesus took a couple of fish and fed thousands, whereas the liberal socialists would have taken thousands of fish and fed a couple of people.

This dude knows what's up.
If you are a female, then, I'm attracted to your mind and would like to meld; meld until the Day destroys the Night.

He would have been one these days which is why it is funny that the Republican party is considered the Christian party

Jesus said rich people should give away their wealth of they want to get to heaven. So you should be thanking the government for ensuring your afterlife.
Thanks, Obama.
Thanks, Obama.

Yeah, dude, except for the MAIN PART of liberalism, Jesus would be a liberal!
That's some seriously bad logic.
?
Abortion is the "main part of liberalism"? Are you 12?

I know, right?
Truth is, liberals and conservatives all want the same things. Peace of mind for themselves and their families, better infrastructure, less poor people, more money, peace, etc. They just disagree on the means of accomplishing these things, making the political side of this conversation a little meaningless. If taxes are the only way to meet these needs, then he'd either be for it or just have an impossible amount of work cut out for him.
Don't crucify me for this, but I don't find too many differences between the red team and blue team when it comes to their intentions.

Well said. However, saying that kind of thing is what got Jesus, well, crucified.

Jesus didn't say to take people's money and give it to the poor. But he also didn't say it's ok to needlessly invade countries, lock people up for prostitution or marijuana, or say anything about gays or guns.

If Jesus gave us the cheat code that allows us to have all the matter in the universe at our command I'd be fine with full-on socialism. He was a douchebag for leaving us while we were still living in a world with a limited supply of stuff we want.

Abortion is a huge part of American Liberalism. The notion that Jesus would be a Liberal when Liberalism stands for Abortion is illogical.
You can't separate Abortion from Liberalism. They are a part of the same Dismal Tapestry.
The "Jesus Would be a Progressive Liberal" crowd are preaching illogical non-sense that can't stand any kind of analytical scrutiny.
He was a radical revolutionary for his time and place. It is certain that he did NOT preach abortion of the fetus.
It's also pretty clear that he would not subscribe to the legal basis for distinguishing abortion from murder, which is that the fetus is not a "person" under common law.
But, people are entitled to their opinions.
PS I am "Sheldon Cooper" 12.
