So with the Roku, I am able to watch all the new shows from ABC/CBS/FOX/NBC the day after the air live?

also ATL, how do you watch Pelicans games? Can that be accessed through the FoxSportsGo app?

Is there a good device similar to a Roku that is cableCARD compatible. I am downgrading to basic cable with Cox. I am planning on replacing my Cox receivers and just renting the cableCARDs. This will give me the basic channels through Cox with access to others online.

ABC: "Show and episode availability are subject to change. Only the ABC live stream and the most recently aired episode require a participating TV provider account."

CBS: Apparently going the subscription route for streaming, $6/month I believe.

FOX: "If you don't see your provider or you don't have one, don't fret - new episodes unlock 8 days after broadcast!"

NBC: "No login required for access to episodes of certain new series, including BLINDSPOT, HEROES REBORN, CHICAGO MED and more. Plus, with a TV provider login, you can watch new episodes of every show the day after they air and binge on complete seasons of select series."

So the networks seem kind of all over the place as far as streaming goes. Personally, I prefer an antenna + OTA DVR so I don't have to worry about waiting 8 days, paying CBS, or worrying which series NBC decides to stream. And some DVRs like the Tablo have a Roku app, so you can watch your recordings without switching inputs or UI.

FoxSportsGo requires a cable login. The Pelicans and NBA League Pass' stupid blackout rules are actually one of the reasons I still have cable. Playon has some unsupported channels like Plex that let you access the illegal streams and I did try that out for a Pels game a few weeks ago, but I could only get it to work on the Playon app on my iPhone. When I tried it in the Playon app on Roku the stream wouldn't play even though I know it was a good stream because it worked on my phone. I haven't tried Plex's illegal stream access yet, if I do I'll post back how it worked.

I haven't tried it yet because Windows 7 doesn't support it, but if you have 8 or later you're supposed to be able to mirror your PC screen to the Roku. You can also do this from an Android phone. So if you can access a Pelicans stream from either of those you should be able to watch it on your TV through the Roku.

Hey guys, just bought an amazon firestick and loaded kodi without a pc method that is on YouTube by using the es file manager. I use the fusion repo on my phone but saw someone recommend a different beta version but can't remember the name. Could you help me out or recommend a better repo than fusion so I can look up the method and if there is an add on for that repo. I'm still kind of new to setting this up so I need step by step instructions or you tube videos with step by step. Thanks!

I am paying Cox $78 per month for internet. it is $91 per month with basic cable (extra $13 per month) for 12 months. Then it goes up to $108 so it is about $30 per month if you bundle with internet.

Is the basic cable in HD?

Yes, it is in HD. My understanding is that the FCC requires cable companies to offer the broadcast networks in HD at no additional cost.

That seems insanely high. For that price, you better be able to stream 4k movies.

Before you do anything, I'd start to look for a cheaper provider that will give you enough bandwidth to stream a couple HD movies simultaneously.

What add on is everyone using now? Genesis has become almost unusable for me. Insalled Phoenix, and it works much better, but don't care the the interface/menu system. I can't seem to find TV shows as easily. Any suggestions?

This isn't America we're talking about here, where monopolies don't exist and you are forced to choose from only 1 or 2 providers for things like cable, internet, electricity, etc.

Wait.......
Baton Rouge is Cox or shitty dsl from shitty att. There's no other choices. Where the hell do you live where you have choices?

I've read through this thread and it's been helpful but a lot of information overload for me lol.

If someone could please help, as I'm trying to do this for my dad as he's getting up there and wants to continue saving any money he can and bc he hates cox cable bc of their bullshite disputes.

I know he will need the antenna but I'm wondering what else he should get. He likes to watch a bunch of different sports (except soccer and tennis), news programs and maybe a couple of others like Discovery, History, Nat Geo and things of the like. What hardware/software should he invest in?

He currently has cox cable and internet and wants to just get rid of cable. He would want it to work on 3 different TVs as well.

He also hates cox bc of their BS disputes and losing the channels if I didn't mention that.

I appreciate any and all help.

Damn. I live in Corpus Christi and there are at least 3 or 4 providers I can think of

Grande
Time Warner
ATT Uverse

That's just off the top of my head. I know Dish was doing an internet thing as well

Cox finally got around to cutting off my basic channels because I didn't get one of their little boxes.

Ordered a leaf and it picks up all the local channels crystal clear as advertised.

Super Bowl looks great.

Going to finally cancel basic and the phone. If we could just guilt google to come down here with some fiber, my cox free dream could be fulfilled.
