Where is the " Musselman " effect.
The offense looks fine with the exception of some undisciplined play by the guards and some obvious lack of communication between Gray and Hornsby and the forwards. To be expected.

Unfortunately Gray and Hornsby need to recognize that they aren't as good as they think they are. Last layup by Gray was bush league for D-1. Add that to his quick missed layup before and I can see he isn't a genius on the court.

Beautiful free throw shooting on the team.

Texas Tech lost to some school I've never heard of. We better win that game.

Gray didn't miss the layup before.

Was it Horsby to Gray or the other way around?

Free Throw Shooting
Game 1 this year : 13-14 92.9%
Game 1 last year : 15-25 60%

I think this is easily the best improvement from last year. If we shot even close to that well from the stripe last year we probably would've made the tournament.

Hornsby missed the layup. Zero issue with the layup either other than he blew it. Two more seconds would've expired before they fouled and we would've been in the 1 and 1.

Martin and Mickey each had 21 pts. Gray 18 pts and Hornsby 17 pts.

The team finished 13 of 14 at the stripe for 93%. If this hold true for the season, that would be a huge improvement over last season.

The Hornsby/Gray combo is infinitely better than Hickey/Stringer so I'd shut up and enjoy finally having guards who can drive to the rim and finish.

For a fairly big team, LSU has poor interior defense.

Texas Tech won last night about how we did. They arent offensively gifted but they play good defense and they got tubby smith who I think is a great in game coach.

We're more "long" and athletic than we are "big". I think we're going to see a fair amount of zone this year.

Lots of "conclusions" being made about this team after one game lol. We have 3 new starters that didn't play last year guys. Give them a few games to get used to playing with each other.

Our guard play is going to be leaps and bounds better than last year before its all said and done. And I expect our defense will improve with some time playing together.

They lost to Texas A&M Commerce. Nothing else matters. We better roll.

Excited to go tuesday.

I doubt that gardner webb will hurt our rpi later in the year. They should finish near the top of their conference i believe.

It gives you hope they might fix the defense since they apparently fixed the free throw shooting.
