Is this the new Robin? This movie . . .

The overcrowding of characters and the obvious Dark Knight Returns references with the older Batman and young, red-headed female Robin is really clouding this movie up. I don't see how they can't screw this up.
With Man of Steel, to me, being just ok, and Marvel starting this huge storyline in the next few movies, I have little excitement for this. What do you guys think?

Wait a minute... they're going to have ROBIN in a BATMAN movie?
That's unheard of! Are they INSANE? What's next... ALFRED? COMMISSIONER GORDON?

Robin was a female in The Dark Night Returns movies. It did not negatively effect it at all

Will not watch, regardless of Robin.

I don't see what the problem is. I'm guessing they're basically just doing a live action version of The Dark Knight Returns with a little more Supes sprinkled in throughout.

This is no big deal. It jives with the comic and Malone is talented enough. Good casting choice, if not a little old.

I know I'm beating a dead horse, but it makes no sense to start off Batman in The Dark Knight Returns version of the character. Can anyone else not see this?

I don't care. As long as they imply that Dick Grayson was the first Robin and keep the door open for Nightwing.
We've seen Batman portrayed at the beginning or peak of his career in every movie to this point. I'm anxious to see something different.

I didn't fail, those movies suck with the exception of a couple...and they make tons of money and fans love them
will be no different with the DC universe
batman and superman are bigger franchises than Marvel's B team

No, we've seen it. We saw it in Rises. That was a big point in the movie. And that movie makes sense to use The Dark Knight Returns in that one. This just seems like the prequels when Lucas just directly lifted images and events in Empire, and clearly didn't understand why they didn't translate well to AotC.

All of the dark knight movies incorporated certain elements of famous comics and there was a deep appreciation of the material. I didn't feel like they were "lifting" anything
year one
dark victory
long Halloween
knightfall
the dark knight returns
the killing joke
and on and on
Nolan may not have loved the source material, but he had a lot of respect for it

This is already different, in that it's the first time we'll ever see the Justice League. If that's the main goal...to get movies about The League up and running, I also agree it makes no sense at all to begin the entire universe with a middle aged Batman. You want that movie...fine. It's the movie that should be slated for 2030.
But now? No...and it's my biggest beef with this entire thing. Not casting, not tone...but why they feel the need to portray Batman as older rather than either just starting off like a contemporary with Supes or just several years in but still well in the height of his prowess.

I think it's hard to judge any movie before you actually see the damn thing. Everyone needs to chill out.
