What is your estimated total wins/losses from sports betting?

How much have you bet, and how much have you won? See a lot of threads in here about it. Just curious if you guys actually make money off of this in the long run.
I've bet a few seasons, usually started with a hundred or 2 and lost it pretty quickly betting on what I thought were easy picks.

It's hard.

I think I'd be over if I bet against what I thought were easy picks every week. Like Texas A&M vs. SMU this week. Everyone thinks it's easy money. But my system would bet in SMU to cover.

I make pretty sizeable isolated bets on a recreational basis. After hitting on my Labor day parlay overall I'm probably up about $2k.
I certainly couldn't make a living off of it. I think making it into a profession changes your thought processes (often for the worst) and takes the fun out of it.

I've won several grand and lost several grand. I should just stop when I get paid out, but I can't.

That's what I figured. Even career sports bettors have something like a 52-48 win loss record. It's good for making money in the short term but you have to really know what you're doing to win in the long term.

To make money you have to learn how to hedge properly. It's not unlike managing a portfolio. You take positions and manage risk. You can make decent returns if you are selective, but it's tough.

I still say my 1 wish would be a sports almanac of the future. It would be SO much fun to bet and win every game

Those are the bets that will get you, when you see an eye popping line that jumps out you need to make sure you cover all angles before you jump in.

I have only bought in once and cashed out multiple times. Just beer money, not rent money (although in hindsight I wish I had been risking rent money )

This month? Probably lost a little short of 30k.

Been years since I bet on games and the reason is because I lost literally everything
Pretty humbling experience
Online sites just make it so easy nowadays

I really just do it to keep me interested in different games other than LSU. As long as I'm not losing my arse, I enjoy it a lot.

Vegas is Vegas for a reason...

Definitely down for my betting "career"
Not significantly. Never had to go into hiding or sell my car/house, but definitely not up for my time betting.
ETA: Every time I go on a hot streak I say I'm going to stop, but it's really hard to call it quits when you're on a roll.

I feel like sports betting can be really terrible for the soul. I had a year around 23 where I made almost $3k. I then spend the next 3-4 seasons losing about $5k.

Plenty in those threads say they do. They dont though. If they were really as good as they say they are, they would be in Vegas being the next Billy Walters.
Now if someone could just get PJ to submit picks every week, you can probably bankrupt most of the books in Vegas.

Last year and so far this year I'm up a good bit $500 or $600. 2011 and 2012 were not so good, probably lost about that much on sports. But I saved myself in 2012 by getting all my losings back by betting on Obama to win the election.
