I'm against forcing people to cater to or conduct ceremonies for any marriage they disagree with.

You can thank the Civil Rights Act for creating the precedent for stupid shite like this happening.

I'm atheist and pro gay marriage, but churches and businesses should not have to cater to something they disagree with. I think businesses should be able to discriminate for any reason, no questions asked.

I'm late to this thread but it appears you're new to the OT experience. My knee jerk prediction for this thread is that it ended terribly.

FYI, I'm for Gay Marriage but I chuckled at your attempt to start a thread to get someone riled up.

Marriage predates history and has included same sex couples long before the creation of Christianity. It always makes me laugh when the morons talk about changing definitions or getting your own sacrament when they had nothing to do with it's creation and the definition included same sex long before them.

In their mind, since Adam and Eve, all good families have resembled the Cleavers. It's really crazy to me that their thought of "traditional" marriage is almost entirely for a 1950s mindset.

I'm Christian and extreme conservative but here is something we can agreed on. We are talking about privately owned businesses here. I don't want gov't in our bedrooms or businesses either.

I don't think gay people will destroy the "sanctity of marriage." Liberals via government with no-fault divorce in the 1960s have done an excellent job of that already.

FIFY.

And when I say to liberals that this was a screwed up part of the CRA and horrible precedent, I always get shouted out of the room and called a racist and sexist.

There are so many people that are ignorant to what Jim Crow laws really were. It was state action that mandated private sector discrimination and protected businesses from public opinion backlash. The response to it should've been remove Jim crow laws and take the training wheels off the private sector and let loose a free market on them that has no protection of backlash from public opinion causing their business to suffer.

My bad, I should of made sure to put recorded before history. Good catch. Basically meant to say we have no idea of it's origin. We don't know if it began as a religious or civil institution.
