I'm probably going to cert up in Server 2012 too eventually, but I'm really interested in databases so I'm starting w/ SQL server.
I'm about ready to take the first test. Still studying a little more though.

A+ is one of the easiest tests because it's general knowledge (I say that having only seen practice tests, though). Did you stop because the certification is considered useless these days? I've never needed any tech certifications so I don't really know what the job market considers valuable in that area.

The right certifications can be very useful/valuable

I started when I was very unhappy at work. I was able to make some changes at work and when I didn't hate it anymore I lost motivation.
The concepts in A+ were easy but it has a lot of tedious memorization.

A+ is useful if its part of your everyday job doing hands on troubleshooting. Is it an easy cert ? yes but the issue with the test isn't the martial. Its how they want you to answer. They are multiple ways to get to something in windows while troubleshooting like the device manager. But during the A+ exam they only take one answer( Their way) which might not be the most practical to you.

OSCP = incredibly hard
CEH = dont waste your time
GIAC is a better option most likely. however they have kind of flooded the market with new certs lately and some people are taking a bit of an issue with that

Some other good courses would be around Horizon, vSAN, and NSX.

Not studying for anything right now, but got my CCNP R&S a few months ago. My new gig isn't networking - believe it or not lol - but it pays well and I like it. Due to that, I may be looking at a Linux cert soon, maybe Linux+/LPIC-1 then maybe RHCSA, LPIC-2, depending.
