What is your most memorable co-worker quitting story?

This lady at a client I used to work for was completely whacked out.
She had the role of manager but then got demoted during the project. After the demotion she completely checked out.
During the team meeting (one day before her last day), she fails to show up to the meeting. The boss calls her on the conference room phone and asks her to come to the meeting. Her response, "Nah, I'm good."
On the day she did quit, she did the following:
wrote vindictive quotes about team members on her office dry erase board
stole the office-provided plant in her office. We all just saw a mini palm tree weaving it's way through the cubicles.
she also changed the combination to her laptop rope (something to keep a laptop in place) thus causing IT to come in and literally cut the cord.
She also had a hate-hate relationship with the IT department, and I heard that when IT found out she quit, they went and had a big Happy Hour.

Co-worker got pissed off and came in the next morning and shot and killed everyone. Glad I took vacation that day.

When I worked at fox sports grill in Houston, a coworker quit and set her apron on fire in the lobby of the restaurant. Haha
I liked her. She was nice. I heard later on she made it pass the first round of the voice or one of those talent shows; she went to celebrate, got too hammered, ran over some people. She's in jail for a long time.

At a previous job, watched a butch lesbian walk into the boss's office and, loud enough for everyone in the surrounding cubes to hear, told him "I quit. You can take this job and shove it up your arse, and while you're at it you can suck on my strapon." Then she just turned around and left the building.

Employee went out on Short Term Disability to have surgery. You're eligible for 100% pay for 6 months in a calendar year.
Employee walked into HR @ 5 months and 2 weeks, and put his 2 week notice.
Employee was paid for 6 months @ 100% pay while he didn't work, and in fact, used his time to find another job.
It was fricking glorious, because it was and still is a horrible place to work, and they've fricked over countless other employees. It was great for them to get a small taste of payback.

I've seen some strange ones. Best had to be when 30 to 40 technicians walked out the facility after a sociopath manager humiliated the entire company in an open-floor meeting. They said "f'k it" and just left. Manager was calling them 30 minutes later begging them to come back. Company basically shut down when they walked.

He gone.
He gone.

Guys job that I got. Told the boss that his twin brother was in a car wreck and he had to take off a few days to go and see him. Few days later guy calls boss and tells him that's it's really bad, he is going to have to donate a kidney to save his brothers life. The office was taking up a collection to send flowers. Well they tried to call the guy to get an address as to where to send the flowers. Well someone in the office knew the parents. Through a friend of a friend. They called and got the twins company that he worked for. Boss called company to get an address offering his condolences, that's when the company that other twin worked for wanted to know what was going on. They said he's right here at work. Guy sent in his resignation a few days later

One of my fellow associates finally had enough of the a-hole Junior Partner in the firm. The JP was a total dick and we hated working with him. The associate had pulled an all nighter working on some research the JP said he had to have for a client meeting. The JP tells him that the "client meeting" was put off but he wanted him to finish anyway so he didn't tell him. Dude losses his mind and they start yelling at each other. Within one minute there are several secretaries, lawyers, etc that can hear everything.
My boy yells "I'm tired of your bullshite and everything about you. In fact, I'm tired of fricking your daughter! I quit!" He storms down the hall to his office, grabs his personal stuff and goes off the radar with the firm. About year later I run into him in DC. After a couple drinks I finally get him open open about that day and ask him about the daughter sex. He says, "I wasn't doing her, but he didn't know it at the time. It let me get the last word."

Had one guy worked with us about 8 weeks and left his resignation at the front gate with the guards.
When we hired another guy to replace him, we told him he would have to out do that.
After about 6 weeks he called me first thing on a Monday morning. Told me to go tell the boss to check his in-box. The guy had sent his resignation through the company mail, so that it was in the boss's inbox Monday morning.

It's actually a story of when I quit.
I came in and took over a department that was underperforming for a while. I turned it around in a year or so, and after a few years we were the best department in the organization, and were winning all kinds of accolades in our industry. Well, our organization had just had the best year in our history the year before. We got the best evaluation in our industry in the country. It was one year later and we were still doing well, but not as good as the year before.
Turns out my name had gotten out there about how I turned around my department. Well, I got a few offers and, even though I was very discreet, I guess my organization heard about it. I was asked countless times if I was looking for another job. By both superiors and other's invested in the interest of our operations.
So, naturally I lied to everyone in my org., telling them that I was very happy and staying put and they didn't have to worry. All the while I had accepted another job. I had to lie to my company for a couple months due to the new job not needing me immediately.
When the time came I told everyone at once, and very publicly that I was moving on to be the next head coach of the Miami Dolphins.

Coworker was about to head out to lunch and get some Wendy's. The boss asked if he could bring back a sandwich for him. Boss gave him $20 to pay for both meals. Coworker never returned.
It's been 2 years now.
I like to think that he's still at lunch.

This is more about me than the girl that quit.
My department covers phones when the receptionist has to go somewhere. While the chick that was moving on was at a meeting, the receptionist left to pick up the farewell cake for her, and transferred the phones to us.
Chick comes back from meeting, and phone rings. She asks, "oh, we have the phones? Where's Lucy?"
I had to think fast, and came up with.....
"She's having period problems, and had to run home right quick."
I guess the girl had issues with my impeccable wit, and I got called into my boss' office later for a tongue lashing.

A few years ago we had a guy in our office get the axe. The superintendent was a douche and didn't get along with the IT department. The IT department conveniently didn't take away the inner office emailing privileges of the former employee. The guy emails a final message and CC's every employee in the company...and the owners. I remember the words "dickless and spineless bastard, along with a few other colorful descriptions thrown in of the boss man. Guy was sooooo pissed.

Someone posted a story about a co-worker shitting her pants then leaving and never showing back up. I wish I could find it.

I worked for a beer distributor during college, & would work on the route deliveries during the summer.
One day I was with this crazy fricker who decided he was gonna quit & leave the truck about an hour away from the warehouse & have his wife pick him up.
He called in said the truck was at this location & he quit right there on the spot.
Lost his CDL for abandoning product or something. I basically got paid to sit in a truck for three hours since I didn't have a CDL at the time.
