anybody who knows anything about baton rouge knows these are just a rigged PR stunt and a bad joke.

I have a little inside information about how they do that list -- the ad department ain't got nothing to do with it. Matter of fact, only a handful of people working with 225 know who the winners are in advance and none of them are in advertising. They don't want it to look like a pay-for-play deal.
They go way out of their way to prevent ballot stuffing -- the nominees all come from online surveys sent to 225 readers, an outside company sorts through the results, then ballots with the most popular nominees are e-mailed out.

It was a murder-suicide three years ago and TJ Ribs had nothing to do with it. It was a dispute between two guys, one of whom was under investigation by the BRPD. It could have happened anywhere.

more like BR BBQ is shite so people went with the only places they'd ever heard of. TJ Ribs? Oh yeah, they have ribs in their name, they've been here forever, and they do the coaches show there. They must be awesome. Couyan's closed, Podnuh's is garbage outside of their Florida location which is just ok, Voodoo is complete garbage (especially the one near LSU), ect. No one's ever heard of the best BBQ place because it doesn't exist (although, I'd nominate Smokin' Aces, place is good).

It was coincidentally the chief investigator for the East Baton Rouge Parish coroner's office. He was dating this dude's sister who was much younger (coroner was 50ish chick was late 20's) and the guy didn't approve and shot him then himself.

We have TJ Ribs recipe for their ribs. I'm sorry to say, they put liquid smoke on their ribs. TJ's is not close of being good ribs.
