I was at costco and saw some nice whiskey and scotchs while I was there. I wanted to try Woodford Reserve or Makers Mark

Woodford Reserve is really good, Makers 46 is my favorite Maker's Mark.

I think you mean bourbon.
My two current readily available, not terribly expensive favorites are Eagle Rare single barrel and Four Roses (either small batch or single barrel)

I enjoy both, but they aren't what I'd consider premium by any means.

Both are good. I prefer Wild Turkey 101 or Rare Breed personally, I also like Evan Williams as well but it's not near as "hip" as the others.

Woodford Reserve Double Oaked, about $55 for a fifth.
Oh, and it's perfectly ok to call it "whiskey".

Some may not consider it premium but I recently was poured some "Devils Cut" and found it really smooth with good flavor. I find Woodfords a little sharp for my tastes.

Damn, I thought we could contain these uppity bitches into the scotch/whisky/boubon circle jerk thread on the FDB, but now you had to go and get them all riled up on here.

All Bourbon is whiskey, not all whiskey is Bourbon!
Here is the Bourbon Family Tree: LINK
Good Luck Finding Some Pappy. I've been trying to get my hands on the good stuff for years, but the waiting list is like 10 years or something.
My Best Man and I decided to do a blind testing of our own a few weeks before my wedding. It was my wedding present from him.
So now I stock Weller 12, Eagle Rare, Charter, Buffalo Trace, Elmer Lee, Sazerac, 1792, Knob Creek, Basil Hayden's, Maker's 46, Woodford Reserve, Jack, & Gentlemen Jack.... & the Crowns.
When we did the blind taste test... it was easy to point out the Tennessee whiskey and rye. But, it was harder to pin point the other ones.
We both scored Woodford at the top followed by a combination of Knob, Basil, Eagle, and Maker's, with Charter scoring surpisingly high.
It really just comes down to personal preference.

Michter single barrel bourbon.
But, to be honest, I like Bulleit as much as any of them.

Food and drink has a huge thread in this. I was at Costco. I reccomend makers, buffalo trace, bulleit is pretty good.
