re: Men being invited to Baby Showers

the couples showers i've ever been invited to have been more like friend get togethers, everyone not pregnant or producing milk gets drunk and we spend 2 or 3 hours bullshitting and catching up. my circle of friends seem to consider it a good excuse to just see each other and hang, since everyone has made the mistake of procreating. i've can't even remember the presents being opened.
this makes me sad and i don't even know the guy. i can't say for certain what i would do, but i'd like to think that i would have told my friend the plan, because like you say, he's going to be excited for something that will never happen. but i'd also advise him that he's stuck and the fight that would arise from him pusing back probably can't be won. i'd like to think i'd be there to provide moral support. but at least he wouldn't be blindsided. but your decision is valid as well, don't get involved in it. tough.

I was horrified. My friend was going to spend the whole week planning an outdoor get together with his buds only to be cock blocked at the last minute by his mother-in-law. His anticipated day of gluttony and beer drinking was going to be transformed into a baby shower. How fricked up is that?

I already told my wife, there will be no coed baby showers or fricking gender reveal parties. She told me I was sucking the fun out this, I just said yep.
I do like pissing off people who are parents already that try to give you advice. That's fun.

Keep thinking.
There's still hope for your male hormones to kick in.
Maybe.

I threw one like this one time. I had beer outside for the men so they stayed out there the entire time...drinking, spitting, throwing rocks, etc.

Chicks dig a dude that shows up at a baby shower, especially if you bring a solid gift. It's unprecedented off the chart stuff.
Now a married dude at a baby shower? Well, that's just sad.

My father in law wanted to come to my wife's baby shower so now its a couple's shower... Thanks Obama!

they can be fun. there is a big difference between a 1pm cake and tea shower and a 6pm bbq and booze shower

Nothing provides more dumb drama than girls hosting a shower. One bitches about money, others bitch about location, all for a girl they likely see 4 times a year.
Showers annoy the shite out of me when I'm not directly involved, I definitely wouldn't attend them.

I was invited to one at work for a friend, didn't go. I got one worse. I am my friends best man for his wedding in sept. He and his fiancée have decided to have a joint bachelor bachelorette party, wtf is that. How the hell and I supposed to plan hookers and shite when the wife and her girly friends are there. Plus can't even go to Vegas, the one place where we could get away with that kinda shite

You weren't gonna call hookers either way you pussy.

This was how it was for the one we hosted and with the ones we attended for our friends.
No big deal. Hang out with friends and some family and have fun.
Screw worrying about what the "real men" think about what a shower is supposed to be.
