I had good times living on state street, glad to see it hasn't changed.

This. I actually lived at Ivanhoe & Carlotta but I assume it's no different. Do they still do the Carlotta St. Halloween party?

After Katrina is was Krusty central. I enjoyed my couple of years there, outside of the great Krusty migration of 2005.

seriously man. i remember the block party that year looked like a fricking night at the YMCA. My friend had a bum camped out in his living room that wandered in and literally refused to leave.

the circle k is the worst.

Funny story about that Circle K, and a small hijack. I bought some NOLA blondes and a few other items there last weekend on my way back to my apartment. The cost was $9.87...The stupid clerk rang up each individual beer, leading to a total of $77 dollars, on the final bill. At first I thought he said $17, which I thought was reasonable. But my GF said, "Did he just say $77" I went back to check, and sure enough, that moron charged me that much. Had to get 2 other employees to come sort that shite out.

yea but not in the same capacity as you remember it. It's not "underground" anymore so to speak.

all these new apartment complexes and all are giving students other options, landlords are going section 8 with the old ones and making bank pretty soon the whole area between Tiger Land and Burbank will loook the same

And because people put expiration dates on property in general, so rather than fixing them up and maintaining them, they milk them and dispose of them so they can build new property, and what becomes of the old property, they never concern themselves with, and so we constantly move further and further out to avoid what we did when we abandoned it.

Oh, so terribly shocked, so terribly amazed.

Last time I went to Carlotta was maybe 2007 or 2008. Can't remember the date. All I remmeber is the line of mounted police standing guard. It was really lame. A far cry from the previous years when hallucinogens flowed like the Mississppi at flood stage. Had some good times at that block party.

I know you want to believe it's the case, but I don't exactly think that's what's being referenced here.

these aren't hippies or students dumbass, I think I made it quite clear they are legitimately drug addicts living in squalor. I frequent the North gate area, I know what the difference is. Take your head out of your arse

Did they ever tear down the Ghetto, or is that pile of shite somehow still standing?

I still remember getting haircuts at Mel's, though. Best barber ever.

1987 i lived in those apartments about halfway down state street on the left (as you're driving from the circle K towards dalrymple)

GOOD TIMES!

my rent was dirt cheap.

later i upgraded and moved out to GSRI..next door to jose vargas who i ended up becoming good friends with
