Watching DUTV last night and they make it out to be a sin against all mankind to shoot a Hen. The guide would fine them 500 for shooting one. I ain't gonna lie, I am no sexist I shoot drakes and hens. What say the OB

Will pass on occasion but we just get wood seeing a Mallard these days. Usually they die.

I will shoot at a hen if she is coming in with a group. A single coming into the decoys, maybe not. If there are other ducks flying, would rather drakes.

A pair comes in... I'm shooting the green head. Knock him down, and I'm coming for her.

Single hen... I'll shoot her.

Big group, pick out a greenhead for the first shot, knock him down and I move on to the closet bird in my shooting lane. Hen or drake, doesn't matter.

Women have come a long way for equal rights, I give them equal steel. Greenhead dies first.

I try not to shoot hens, as they lay the eggs.

But, on an afternoon hunt last year in North Dakota, my good friend who I was hunting with called my name to shoot. Was a banded hen mallard. So, guess I can't be completely against it.

If they have landed and stopped swimming, the drake gets shot first. Then the hen gets hers.

If they are coming in, I shoot the duck closest to me and go out from there.

I should mention that I hunt in beaver ponds so I get approximately .34 seconds to see the duck and shoot.

I try not too, but I learned real quick last year that looking up in the flooded timber, I'm not so great at picking out the greenheads.

Who even waist there time shooting mallards in general. Some folks on here think it is easier to kill mallards than GW teal.

I normally don't shoot hens, but I broke my rule a couple times last year for the sake of getting my pup some work in.

Also made myself a rule not to shoot ducks on the water after I killed 4 teal in one shot when I had a bunch packed in on the water in front

We try not to and we have a jar at camp that collects a 10 dollar bill for each one killed.

Indiscriminately. I'm still in what the hunter's education referred to as the "limiting out" stage of my hunting career, I don't always limit but that is the highest goal of the trip behind safety.
