I know we have put more players in the NFL in the last decade than anyone. The first round guys get all the hype and deservedly so. This is the trend that LSU has to change...

Bama - 14
Florida - 7
LSU - 6
Missouri - 6
USCw - 6

For them to have more than LSU and Florida combined is just ridiculous. We have done very well keeping talent at home considering.

Why since 2009? Because going beyond that ruins your bamasession?

LSU players have played better in the NFL than Bama ones.

Ridley is legit. Ingram and Richardson are fricking terrible.

Patrick Peterson- 'nuff said.
Tyrann Mathieu- unbelievable stats at the halfway mark (49 tackles, 2 ints, 1 forced fumble, 5 pd)

in miles tenure we have had:

Russel - 07
Tyson Jackson - 09
Dorsey - 08
Claiborne - 12
Landry - 07
Brockers - 12
Reid - 13
Bowe - 07
Davis - 07
Addai - 06
Mingo - 13
Peterson - 11

why are you only counting since 09. you're cheating miles out of 4 years of his tenure there.

since 2007, LSU has had 6 top 5 picks, and Alabama has had 2

see how this works?

Damn, Miles must be a great game day coach to be so competitive with Alabama since 2009 given this big talent advantage they have over us.

Thanks for pointing this out to all the retards.

Ehh, wed have more if our players stayed. Add guys like tm7, chris faulk and Ruben randle wed have 3 more. Chris just unlucky, randle still got drafted in round 2 and tm7 is playing like a first rounder.

1) we can't make our guys hang around to be drafted 1st round
2) i don't think any of those 14 are from Louisiana, short of recruiting every recruit of Alabama AND somehow getting them IDK what we are supposed to do.

Just to reiterate this point...we are now forced to complain that while we HAVE put more guys in the NFL over the last decade than any other program we have ONLY put SIX first rounders in the past 4 seasons.

And this is cause not only for concern, but anger?

Honestly...does anyone else feel this place does more harm than good to the psyche of the average LSU fan?

Given the population and number of high quality high school players produced in GA if I were a UGA fan I would be more concerned about not even making the list. They sure don't compete with G Tech or other in-state programs for the players they want, that is pitiful. Their QB is from FL, Gurley and Marshall are both from out of state, how do they rake out of state top level talent and not win MNCs? Rhetorical Q. Saban is going to be on top until he quits or becomes feeble. Not saying LSU can't compete, but there seem to be a lot of holes in the annual talent base produced in LA when trying to complete an entire team of above average or better players.

Rolando Mclain was a 1st round pick (2011) and is now flipping burgers.

Measuring a program's success by the number of 1st round draft choices is ridiculous. The NFL draft is all about "potential". It's a crap shoot...and the first round is the biggest crap shoot of all.

What NFL personnel project about an LSU player's ability at the next level has nothing to do with that player's ability to make the program successful while still at LSU. Would you not want a college roster full of 1st round picks like JaMarcus Russells, Tim Tebows or Rolando McClains? Absolutely. But a roster full of those players in the SEC would be unbeatable. Would you want an NFL roster full of the same players Hell no. But a roster full of Tom Bradys, Bart Scotts, Kurt Warner, John Randles and Warren Moons would be infinitely more successful.

Sooo we have basically 1 coach out there that is beating Miles in championships, #1 draft picks, etc. Actually, Saban is only +1 in head-to-head games after 7 games. I think we can all agree that Saban is college football's top coach. Let's compare Miles to all other programs and head coaches. I think we know the numbers are pretty impressive (even though he blows one once in a while).

That is true. I know that. You know that. 18 year old 4 and 5 stars do not.

I'm not sure what your point is about the 1st round trend having to change. There are hundreds of 4* and 5* HS players every year and only 32 1st round draft choices. Most recruits can do the math and realize the slim odds of being a first round pick. I think that having a program that puts more total players in the league is more important to look at than the number of 1st round picks. In that respect LSU (39) has 30% more players in the NFL than Alabama (30). If you have the talent to be a 1st round pick, that talent can be developed anywhere. Kids also want to win. LSU isn't losing recruits to Bama because of how many 1st round picks they have had since 2009. They are losing recruits to Alabama because Bama has won 3 of the past 4 NC's.
