I hate neighborhood snitches. Kill the fun for everyone.

What a goddamn disgrace.

Late night dance parties have been going on for a good while at Mimi's. Why now file a lawsuit? Maybe some people moved in to the neighborhood and didn't like what they moved next door to? Or some property owners think they can get higher rental rates if the music is shut down? I hate people.

I remember a drunken night listening to DJ Soul Sister at Mimi's. A night to remember! Or try to put pieces together that make a night

Just like the NIMBY assholes fighting Habana Outpost on Rampart and Esplanade.

Would have to think it would be the latter of the two. I find it hard to believe a hipster living there would be a whistle blower on a local favorite.

Or could be a competing bar trying to squeeze out some competition.

One of the names in the suit brings back an interesting TP article:

Marigny, she finds, is a neighborhood where people know you. The owner of the café next door lets Camille practice piano there. Cropley shops at a funky grocery across the street. On Fridays, everyone heads down to Big Daddy's to listen to Candy, the blind keyboardist, perform. The monthly art openings along St. Claude Avenue offer another cultural lure.
"It's a fantastic neighborhood, charming, nice people. We walk everywhere. I wanted that -- a walkable neighborhood, with services and people. I like eclectic neighborhoods. This is very central, to work, Jazz Fest, everything."

Come on now. That corner that has been vacant, dark, and ugly for at least 30 years is so much better for the neighborhood than any sort of viable establishment.

That makes no sense to me. Maybe Mimi's is too loud, IDK. Still it's been there for so long.
But the people who oppose Habana Outpost because there is no parking. There is no parking at Port o Call either. Damn.
I guess they would rather a long abandoned gas station.

Why don't these whiny babies move to the 'burbs where they belong?

The number of eating establishments within a mile radius of that location for which "there is no parking" has to number in the hundreds.

Requiring parking for establishments to serve alcohol is an antiquated concept. Not to mention flies in the face of the last 30 years of browbeating by MADD that we eliminate drinking and driving.

NIMBYs infuriate me to no end.

With the alleged parking woes at that corner, it's a miracle any restaurants in the Quarter are able to operate with that dearth of parking spots.

You should see those people gnash their teeth and pull out their hair as they speak up in opposition at the Board of Zoning adjustment.

Have lived in the Marigny/Bywater for years. Knew exactly what I was getting into, and knew it was what I wanted. Its noise at all hours - its music at all hours. Its drunks and druggies - its world class restaurants within walking distance of my house. Its like living in a 3rd world country - its like nothing else you'll experience in the U.S. You need a reality check before you make the decision to make this area your home. If you're used to suburbia, this is not the place for you.

I get hell for this statement, but I think it is true. NOLA is like a mini version of NYC. Always something going on and depending where you live great food within walking distance of where you live.
