Well, I'm not alone. Several Senators over the weekend said they hadn't yet read it either. And they're the damn ones voting on it, not me.
This is absolute horse shite. Both the House and Senate bills have been out for over a month, have been marked up in their respective committe...

re: Washington, D.C. Recommmendations

Supposedly Buffalo Billiards in nearby DuPont Circle is the new place to watch Saints games. I heard it gets pretty rowdy. I would stay away from the food there, but there are plenty of good restaurants and bars in that area. Blue Duck Tavern is really good if you are looking for something fancie...

re: Where to watch in DC on Saturday?

Posted by Doc John on 9/12/17 at 7:58 am
I would watch it at the Brig. It's a new beer garden in Navy Yard and the owners agreed to start playing Lsu games this year and I think they even do some food and drink specials during the games. They play the night games on a big projector against the wall of a neighboring building. Should be nice...

Restaurant recs for Paris

Spending four nights in Paris later this month. Any lunch and dinner recommendations?...
That 59 yards rushing for Lsu in 2015 doesn't tell the whole story. Lsu running backs actually accounted for 103 yards rushing, but the rushing total drops to 59 after Brandon Harris lost 44 yards in sacks ...

Wet or Dry Brine for Smoked Turkey

Posted by Doc John on 11/9/16 at 11:15 am
Does the FDB prefer a wet or a dry brine for turkey? Also, should I salt the turkey after brining? I've been looking at that turkey guide on amazingribs.com, but wanted to get the boards opinion as well...

Fournette had 127 total yards and scored a touchdown against arkansas last year. Averaged 4.8 yds/carry and 12 yds/reception. Might want to ask if our oline and qb will show up. Cause you know Lsu's defense will shut a one-dimensional Arkansas offense down...

What's your preferred fat for roux?

Posted by Doc John on 11/3/16 at 3:39 pm
I'm talking roux for a chicken and sausage gumbo, but open to ideas for rouxs for different dishes also. I have used vegetable and canola oil in the past but looking to try something new. Does bacon fat work well? ...

re: BUY or SELL Etling in Alabama game

Posted by Doc John on 10/25/16 at 8:15 am
Have you even watched any Lsu games since etling has been the starter? Two of the things that he excels at over Brandon Harris is his awareness and mobility in the pocket and his ability to make multiple reads and find the open receiver while under pressure. Whether LSU offensive line can for...

re: Bars in DC

Weather is supposed to be beautiful in DC today. I would recommend anywhere outside, like one of the beer gardens. Dacha or Garden District. Or go sit at Pearl Dive and eat some mussels. Lots of good places around 14th street. Church key is great for beer. If you're around the hill try Capitol l...

re: Roux Separating from Stock

Posted by Doc John on 9/27/16 at 7:37 pm
Thanks for all the answers. Yeah the stock I made myself was probably room temperature when I added it and then the little extra stock I added was straight from the fridge, so that was probably it. Could also slow down the incorporation even more. I thought about bringing it to a boil and whi...

Roux Separating from Stock

Posted by Doc John on 9/27/16 at 7:16 pm
The last time I made gumbo my roux separated after I slowly incorporated the stock. Some of it rejoined after simmering for a couple of hours, but there was still noticeable separation when finished. I loosely follow John Folse's chicken and sausage gumbo recipe which calls for a roux made from 1...

re: Favorite SEC Campus

Don't really understand all the love for USC campus. The horshoe area is pretty, but other than that the rest of their buildings are interspersed amongst a pretty drab downtown area and the buildings themselves are indistinguishable. Plus their stadium is off campus ...

re: The reason I love Les
You sir are referring to the 'Vocal Minority'. Alot of fans love Les for what he brings to LSU and the game of college football.
I'm getting tired of this vocal minority line. I'd say after this season it is closer to 50/50, just from talking to all the lsu fans I know, meet, and a...
