UNC's entire roster is made up of McDonald's AAs, yet they consistently get outplayed and blown out this season. I know he's won 2 titles, but both those teams and several others had 4-5 lottery picks! His teams show little heart or desire to even play defense, and potential is rarely developed! The guy flat out can't coach IMO

So who do you expect coaches to win titles with?

And UNC lost basically their entire roster after last season: John Henson, Barnes, Marshall, Zeller

Did some of his teams fail to meet expectations, particularly at KU? Sure.

Is he overrated as a coach? No way.

No. This is a disappointing unit, but shite happens. He's a damn good coach.

How can Roy be overrated? He has two national championships and seven final four appearances. Like Les Miles, his teams might not look pretty at times but he usually wins big.

He's overrated as a coach I agree, but he gets talent....And I hate his timeout strategy...he only used 1 timeout in a blowout game

This is going to sound weird, but I think Calipari going to UK has a little to do with these UNC teams not being as good as the ones he won titles with. He is still getting McDonalds all Americans, but cleaning up on the top 5 players ain't happening for Roy as much these days, Coach Cal seems to be getting a lot of guys that probably would have gone to UNC if Cal wasn't at UK.

I thought he was a pretty good coach in his younger days. I can remember him coming into the P-Mac and beating our team with Shaq. Stanley and Chris with good old fashioned team basketball.

But ulimately, IMHO he's a two-face. He portrays a goodie-two-shoe image that he wants to be known for yet he's shown time and again over the years that it's a fraud.

That catches up with you and even kids eventually see through that.

OP is out of his mind. You can't call him overrated and reference 2 Titles at the same time. Come on, man.

And I'm a Duke fan too. After LSU of course

Perception can be in the eye of the beholder.

Most people think Izzo is a great coach who coaches up his talent.

Yet if we follow polls like we do in CFB - Michigan State is the #1 most overratd team since 2000...based on preseason polls and final rankings.

They are also the #1 most overrated team of the 1990's - based on the same criteria. Izzo has been the coach since 1995.

Perhaps that means nothing - except pollsters like Izzo - perhaps at Michigan State high expectations are a reason for his greatness as a coach? Worth mentioning though.

Kansas is #18 for the 90's and North Carolina is #12 this past decade for Roy Williams.
