My 08 experience started out shitty. Our tailgate plans fell through because cops kept harassing us but after that we just bar hopped the rest of the day and had a blast. Every bar we went to LSU fans took over and we just got shitty and walked to the stadium..

No, I don't feel that I am "one of the a.holes", as 1) I am 51 yrs old & stopped doing all that foolish stuff yrs ago, and 2) I & no one in my party drinks. I am simply describing my experiences, covering 7 games, there and they seem to fit with the majority of other people's. My bitch is 999% with the local & campus police; drunk & stupid fans I have dealt with in the 40 yrs I have been traveling to out of town games as an LSU fan. I have just never seen cops go to this extreme to cause problems & I have been exposed to NOPD's "best" down in the Quarter for yrs & yrs.

I've been 3 times to Gainesville in the past decade. My favorite SEC road trip each time. And LSU has only won 1 of those 3 games.

Been to every SEC stadium & Gainesville is simply more fun than the rest.

I think the problem is just Florida cops in general.

have you ever stumbled out of the FloraBama at 2:15 in the morning and see what's waiting for you?

Alabama cops=nowherwe to be found.
Florida cops=just waiting to pick off drunks one at a time coming out of the bar.

Don't go. I live in Orlando, and when driving back home to BR, I refuse to make any stops in Gainesville to even fill up with gas or take a piss. My experience echoes everyone else, though if you're looking to cross it off your SEC venue list, I think this is a good year to go.

Shitty cops, and horrible mean spirited fans all wearing jorts.

I've only been to Gainesville once for a game so obviously my experienced is a limited one but it was a bad time. A real bad time.

I'm sure a better experience can be had.

im not a fan of gainesville at all. the cops suck. the tailgating sucks. you can bar hop but its incredibly expensive.

the fans are dicks but you get that everywhere. that doesnt even phase me. but the above examples are why i did not like the gainesville gameday experience.

Went twice to Gainesville and both times it was fine. I've had worse experiences at Auburn.

Bama has always been good but I haven't been since the Saban era over there so it may been more hostile.

Is the "cheetah club" still open? I was there back in 04/05 and that was by far the best strip club Ive ever been to. Hot latino dancers and very loose rules! Also enjoyed the Steak House/gentleman's club but I can't remember the name. West Palm is great place to visit. But I've never been to gainsville/jortville

Glad I'm not the only one. I'll wait and fill up at the Okahumpka rest stop or something.

It really is crazy, weird how different the Florida fans are from the rest of the SEC. I can't describe what it is, but anyone who has been there knows what I am talking about.

Did not read the previous 8 pages but do not go there. It is a terrible place to go. You could pay my plane ticket, my hotel, my game ticket, and give me extra money, and I still would turn it down.

I would rather watch a soccer match in Kandahar than another football game in gainesville.

I've been to Gainesville for 3 games. Each time I saw the cops specifically targeting LSU fans. In fact it was so bad the second time I did not even have a beer for the 3rd game.

When I was there in 1998 a woman that had to be at least 80 years old came up to me screaming profanities and trashing our state and culture.

I have made the decision to never go there again. They just have too many bad fans.

That being said I have been to about 15 different away stadiums and have always had a great experience. 2003 Ole Miss was intense but the people treated us relatively well. Auburn is a great away game to go to if you ever get the chance.

That lady got in your face too? She must have gotten to you before she got to me because I knocked that b#### out with a left hook! She tried to scream for the cops when she came to, but I had shoved my can of beer in her mouth. Also, I used her ticket to get in the game because I hadn't bought one yet.

See, it's all in how you handle a bad situation.

Being serious, I actually went in 1998 too, but LSU fans had completely taken over streets. It was unbelievable - they were actually stopping traffic. Their fans stayed far away on the other side of the street where the bars were. Some older lady told us that FSU fans didn't even take over like that. It was definitely the most memorable road trip I ever went on. We lost, but it was really close and we had a long int. TD return called back or we would've won. They thought they were gonna kill us as payback for the year before.

By the way, I made that 2003 Ole Miss road trip as well. That was the most hostile road trip ever. We go just to have a good time at the games and got in our only brawl ever before the game. That was one of the most wonderful feelings ever leaving there with the W. I remember Saban saying it was the most hostile trip he had ever been on too.
