Good point. When I go I do tend to just hover around friends tailgates that are in sororities so my opinion is probably pretty skewed.

Campus might be. But right across the street from the stadium is a street with a bunch of bars. I know you can go in and drink there. But even the FL fans told us, cops wait outside for opponent fans. If you walk out the door with a beer, they will write you up for a ticket and have no mercy.
From what they said, they look the other way at FL tailgaters, and let them bring booze and drink at their tailgates with no problems.
Just weird, I thought the atmosphere would be way different.
But I'll say this. Went to Bama game last year. Those bastards know how to tailgate like LSU.

I had a great time in BAMA last year and I had a good time in Auburn the year before. I hate both of them with a passion. But, I never seem to have too many conflicts while in AL.
UF will be something different I'm sure...

Bama was great. People knew how to party and were cool. It is a shame the Florida experience sucks so bad because the stadium is legit.

I was warned about how horrible the fanbase was. Wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. People were actually pretty nice. The only assholes were a bunch of fratstars that let park on their property if we paid them. After the game, they were real assholes. Everybody else were decent.
And not a bad atmosphere. Just imo, much different than LSU or Bama.

Went there in 2008 when we got drummed...... So many douchebags around us in the stadium, but pre-game was fun. I'm willing to bet many of those Douchebags who were there then now wear FSU colors.

I've had a good time the two times I have gone....once in 1998 when the reptiles had Spurrier, and last time in 2010....... I am going this year too! The tailgating sucks, but then again, you're tailgating with fellow Tiger fans anyway....so it doesn't matter

I went in '10 and it wasn't negative at all...actually enjoyed it...
as with any other SEC program, you need to research the rules (where to park, where open container is allowed, etc.) and you will have a good time...
We set up to tailgate a bit away from the florida crowd and kept a pretty low profile and had no problems at all...actually spent most of the afternoon in their main party bar across the street from the stadium and didn't have a bit of problems....
ETA: IMO, the best way to handle tailgating is to drop a car off in one of the lots on Friday night and take a cab back to your hotel and then to the game the next morning...tailgate around your car and then drive it home after the game....

Gainesville cops were some of the biggest douches ive ever came across at away games. They snatched me up outside the stadium for drinkin and asked me if i was goin to the game. I said yeah and showed them my ticket. Assholes took my ticket and said not anymore. Then they took me inside the stadium to the secruity room and frisked me. Held me there about an hr or so before just lettin me go. frickin dicks

It's true about cops looking for alcohol drinking technicalities...
And they will tow you in a heart beat...
But in my experience, the average LSU road fan is 10x crazier than anyone who will try to give them $hit at an opposing stadium.
So go and enjoy yourself and just be around a few LSU fans most of the time, because if you're conservative, the odds are that the other LSU fans around you are complete lunatics and will scare the Florida fans.
And they will tow you in a heart beat...
