Why are all of our fans so confident against Oregon?

I have to admit, I don't read this board as much as I used to. But just at a glance it seems like a lot of people think we're going to walk over them.
We struggled with West Virginia at home last year. Oregon has a lot more talent on offense than WV did.
If our offense doesn't play well we're in trouble. I'm confident we'll win but a lot of people are acting like this is going to be easy. If Oregon has some success on offense and can sustain drives they could very well wear out our D-line in the second half.

It will be close, one way or another imo

It's game week and hope springs eternal.
Plus, our defense didn't really struggle against WV, our offense did. While we don't have anything to back it up with but coach speak, most believe our offense will be better.

Because a large majority of LSU fans truly believe the only real football being played is in the SEC.
They fail to realize that LSU has always had struggles containing mobile QBs.

I don't think we'll "walk all over them", but damn, we've got an immense amount of talent, great coaching, and a real ability to perform at the team's peak when given time to prepare.

I was until all of the distractions.

This years offense is going to be light years better than last years offense, and the D will be just as good overall. It is easy math.

Our DL will man handle their OL. Our offense wont have to play their best to win.

Just the cycle our internet fans are in right now.
Check back next Monday if we lose or look ugly winning. It will be chicken little central around here.

I'm not. I think LSU drops this game. Not because of all the distractions, but because Chavis is terrible vs. Spread offenses. I dont think the defense is going to have enough stops. Someone quote me. Here's the obligatory "I hope I'm wrong" quote.
We'll see what happens.

I have no idea. We were picked so high, because we were only losing toliver, Ridley, barksdale.
Now we are losing Ridley, dwor, Shepard, toliver, barksdale, and our starting qb. People say losing JJ is no big deal but I disagree. The offense has been tailored to him, and countless hours during spring, summer and fall have been devoted to him. Now we will have a different very vanilla offense. Basically the same plan with all of JJ's plays taken out

They only return 11 starters from last years team not even counting their best CB who is suspended, so they will have less than half the guys that started for them against Auburn for this game.

Our track record and scoreboard OOC is pretty good, no ?
Oregon has SUBSTANTIAL leadership loss off last year's dominant team.
We think we have rare depth (we'll see), even for an LSU team.
Why wouldn't we be confident?
LSU has had so many of these big games in the last decade.
Our guys come here to play in them.
And if we lose to a better team, so be it.
Healthy respect and confidence is what I sense.

Because mostly games are won up front where lsu has the clear advantage. Oregon possesses speed but so does lsu. Interesting note: the past 3 major non conf games for Oregon have been losses: 09 against Boise, 09 Rose bowl, and 10 MNC game. Meanwhile lsu is 33-1 in non conf games under CLM.

Pretty much all negative energy concerning the game leaves me the monday before opening day. It is at this point I have convinced myself LSU will beat any team they are to play. I stop analyzing and ignore stats and pretty much just move onto looking at highlights or listening to the GBFTL.
Then when game day comes I drink until i am obnoxious and to the point where neither me nor my team is touchable. Not until after things go south do I fall into a drunken depression as there is to that point, absolutely no reason to

i haven't read the thread, but my take o nthe rest of the rant is this:
LSU fans think our talent is better than anyone else's in the country and it isn't even close.
therefore, if we ever perform badly or lose a game it is due to sub-standard coaching.
it's a semi retarded way of thinking, but it is everywhere.

Also the pac12 might be the most underrated conference

because we're undefeated and it's real easy to pick wins and losses in August. Then the war starts and everything goes out the window and you remember that nothing ever happens the way you thought it would in August.
