BULL! Did you not see a difference in the defense in 08 compared to 09?
I'm not a Lee fan, he looked like a first year freshman vs La Tech. But defense was the difference in o8 vs o9.

What if JL is the greatest practice field QB of all time?

No SEC QB has ever struggled as a younger player and then gone on to do things like win the SEC, go undefeated, and be a first round pick. This simply cannot happen. We are doomed.

Unless he has been possessed by the spirit of Joe Montana, Lee's biggest handicap will be between his ears.

You are a damn moron. And did Montana die because this is the first i have heard of it. I guess you forget the fact that even though Lee threw a ton of picks he moved the ball down the field pretty well considering how young he was.

I don't put much stock into how Lee is doing in practice. As the other poster said, what's between his ears is the problem come game time. Some kids turn it on during games and some can't hack it. I don't know if Lee gets nervous and his calm and reason go out the window, or if he's not good at reading the defenses or what, but it hasn't been pretty. We all know that. I don't know if you can coach a kid up if that's the issue. Perhaps he can improve, i hope for him that he can but we haven't seen that. That season was beyond painful to watch.

It sounds like what BG is doing should help out both QBs but definitely Jared because to me the main problem he was having was he couldn't read the coverage. He didn't have any problem throwing the ball he just didn't expect a defender to be there to make a play on the ball. When he wasn't throwing interceptions he actually moved the ball alot better than jefferson.

now the BG reads should help Jefferson too because I think confidence was his main problem. Confidence in when someone would come open he would hesitate because the last thing he wanted to do was throw a pic because he saw what happened to Lee. So simplifying the reads should help him be sure of what he is seeing.

Either way which ever wins the QB competition should be fairly better than we last saw them.

The pick six JL threw against Georgia on the first snap still haunts me.

Whoever starts, I think we need the following from our QB this year:
-Know who is most likely to be open before the pass play begins.
-Ability to set up in the pocket, not back, when possible.
-Ability to quickly pick up second and third receivers. (Watch Drew Brees tape)
-Have the time to do the above.
-Ability to throw accuate passes to our players.
May the best man win...............

Whoever wants Lee over JJ must not be a fan of LSU. Have any of you watched the kid play. Albeit he can play better than I, He is god awful. Some of you peoples' perspective is absolutely asinine. Do you ever listen to yourselves and think, "God I'm an idiot".

The problem isn't either one of them. It's Crowton inserting too much compexity into the system. Neither JJ or JL are idiots, but being taught to read/react to 50 friggin' things in a single play is overdoing it. This is why Crowton's offenses always get worse every year, everywhere he's been. He starts with a basic, simple system which works, but he keeps piling complexity onto it year after year to the point where the players heads are spinning around trying to remember too many things.

This offense will be a total disaster.

I think you mean JJ's handicap- he is the one that still can't read defenses.

You clearly completely missed the point I was making. JJ struggled in 09 because of our weak running game and O line. When we had a good running game in 08, he came in and did fine by just protecting the ball (that means not turning it over) and making a few big plays.

Like many posters before me, I don't give a crap who starts at quarterback for LSU...as long as his play gives us the best chance to win. It's not about black and white like many would like to inject- it's about purple and gold and what's best for LSU's success.
