If a program has produced less than five degrees annually over a three year period, it's gone.

Bachelor of Arts in Physics????

What's wrong with math and physical science?

Good thing we are eliminating all study of chemistry, classics, French language, horticulture, math, physics, aviation, geology, and life sciences.
I guess we can only study welding and plumbing. Meanwhile, in China ......

You act as if there are students getting those degrees. At only 5/year over 3 years, something else is wrong and it isn't eliminating the class.

There are still schools where you can study them and I think some are still still important, but if there’s no demand at a school for the degree you can’t keep paying professors and entire departments for three students. Somebody has to pay.

Bachelor of Arts versus Bachelor of Science. Two totally different degrees.

Study in math, physics, chemistry, etc., is critical for America's future competitiveness in this technological world. If students are not studying the core sciences, we need to work on promoting interest in the fields, not eliminating the programs.

They are eliminating the BA version, which is a far less rigorous and arguably useless compared to a BSc.

A Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Physics offers a flexible, interdisciplinary approach to studying the physical universe, combining foundational physics with liberal arts education. It is ideal for students pursuing careers in education, science policy, patent law, technical writing, or double-majoring, offering more elective space than a Bachelor of Science

A BA in any science is stupid. Why would you get a BA in Physics vs a BS??? Why would it even exist in the first place?

That is not addressed in the OP. If correct, then the presentation should be on the elimination of duplicate majors with some context, and not simply characterizing math and science degrees as "worthless degrees."

So more education is needed on what education is critical?
Got it.

So a watered down degree for those who can’t hack it?
I found the problem.
I found the problem.

First of all they are eliminating a Bachelor of "Arts" in chemistry and physics. I'd be willing to bet the Bachelor of Science is staying.
Meanwhile in China it' STEM degrees they are pursuing.

Yea, these are bullshite degrees. They are basically math or physics degrees for people who don't want to work in math or physics, like someone who wants to be a teacher.

I sure hope no one is claiming physics is “useless”.

Difference in dance and dance studies?
One guy dancing for his degree and the guy in the wheelchair studying him?

I think the problem is these are BAs in science fields, AND there is no demand for them. It does not equate at all to cutting out the study of these subjects.

Someone suggested that universities should be cosigner on all student loans.
This would eliminate a lot of these useless degrees.
