I am assuming you are
A) casing the place to rob later
B) hoping for an elderly victim you can scam

Is there truly any reason for this currently?

There are some legit life insurance sales agents who still do this, but they're usually only knocking on doors of people who actually requested it. Now, that person remembering they requested it is a totally different story! Most do not remember requesting it because there are so many shady ways the average elderly American is duped into requesting it.

I'd assume 95% of door to door soliciting is indeed a scam today.

We've used bug pest/bug removal and landscapers before buts it's usually guys that are already in the neighborhood working and have multiple houses they do at a time.

I have had solar panel people and security camera people. I knocked on doors for a political campaign before; some of the older people actually enjoyed it, but it helped to be campaigning against the democrat incumbent.

Nothing makes me happier than solar sales bros showing up at my house.

Tree guys and house washers too.

And yeah, the house washers did my whole block, house after house.

Had a pest control guy catch me in the yard Monday
389.00 for initial visit & then 80.00 a month with a contract

It’s annoying when you can’t enjoy your yard in the evenings without having to worry about salesman

Just came home to another door advertisement from a roofer.

I know my roof looks like shite.

I'm near living check to check.

I can't do anything about it.

They stay knocking. I stay ignoring.

This scam is old, “hey we are already doing your neighbors Jim and Joe, so we might as well do yours too “.

FYI: Jim and Joe told them to pound sand

AT&T came around my area trying to sign people up for fiber recently. A few people got it so it must be effective.

I signed up for AT&T UVerse years ago because one of their salesmen came to my door at just the right time. I had just been fighting with Cox about my bill and was fricking pissed.

7 years ago, I door knocked for home and auto insurance (my own agency).
Out of pity, I wrote a handful of policies out of my efforts.

As for others efforts, I’ve gotten internet twice from door to door knockers, as well as switched to AT&T from Verizon, which was a pain in the arse.

Even if it is, just don’t answer the door.

Never understood why it bothers people so much.

“Hi Mr. Rockford. I was just over at your neighbor’s house to Carlson’s. Do you know now of them?

They let me do their roof wash their car, wash their laundry, and put up a fence. They really like my work and you should since your house looks like shite.”
