A tragic part of this is when you realize she didn't just get these piercings, start fricking up her hair and became obsessed with death and the Columbine shooters yesterday. For people like her it's normally a slow, gradual change and her parents and friends allowed it to go unquestioned and uncontested.

Her society overall failed her. Reading the comments on this thread are indicative of this. I understand the anonymity is mostly responsible but there is also the element of base disregard for human beings that would compel someone to take advantage of that anonymity to attack this person.
