quote:

The tech tycoon argued that AI and robotics will produce goods and services in such abundance that traditional concerns about inflation from increased money supply will become irrelevant. “AI/robotics will produce goods & services far in excess of the increase in the money supply, so there will not be inflation,”

The concept of Universal High Income (UHI) represents Musk’s alternative to conventional universal basic income (UBI) proposals. Rather than providing minimal subsistence payments, UHI would offer more substantial financial support, enabling people to maintain comfortable lifestyles without mandatory employment. Musk has previously described a future where “all jobs will be optional” and suggested that money itself could lose significance as advanced technology creates post-scarcity economic conditions.

I can only imagine the hellscape this would create. Did we learn nothing from the Covid era?

How many COVID vaccines and boosters have you taken? Hopefully you learned something in that regard.

Hoping someone can help explain where the money for the income comes from for this? Also if unemployment exists because of AI but there is also a decrease in the cost of goods and services does that mean we enter a deflationary timeframe? How do we protect purchasing power?

Is Elon sounding a warning ? Are we heading down the slippery slope of a world dominated by AI, Robotics, and Droids that will essentially make Humans irrelevant and unnecessary?

Just raid the retirement of all the rich boomers and give it to the generations they’ve been fricking over for decades? That could work too.

I don't think enough people understand this and why it really is such a terrible idea. Society would completely collapse into mass chaos if people just sat at home and didn't have any incentive to go out and be productive

This is exactly Musk's point. He says that in order to avoid hyper deflation you end up having to hand money out. It will become a real concern.

Correct. Just look at all the welfare queens and families. Yeah let’s have all of society act like this.

The point within the context of the OP is that the above likely won’t be a choice.

He’s talking about a potential future concept.

I disagree with him, but the OP headline is misleading.

He’s not calling for this now.

Can I still work so I can earn more and continue to live in areas that the democrats can't afford?
