Because we don’t agree with a single assumption built into that statement nor the motive behind it

I’m well off. I don’t care. It’s just a shame what that generation did to the younger kids.

That’s not what he said. He isn’t calling for UBI, he’s saying that I. The future, he can see UBI being needed because AI is producing everything. Basically, no one is wanting for everything. The worst case scenario was the T2 scenario. He talked about this in depth with Rogan.

Just raid the retirement of all the rich boomers and give it to the generations they’ve been fricking over for decades? That could work too.
Only a flaming big puzzy would post something like this.

I’d like fore Elon to engage in a highly publicized debate on this subject. The guy is no idiot; he sees something and should be challenged by educated opposition to expound on it.
An unemployment meltdown might be worse than his ideas.

this also opens the door for social credit scores and more government
Will there be a government? At some point the AI will take over that too

So this is interesting. Money will be obsolete and inflation will not be factor because there is no currency. Basically he suggesting that any and everything will be available by robots and AI. Because productivity is so exponentially higher it will out pace any negative economic impact. When everything is relatively cheap it will afford individuals a higher standard of living and will equate to high income. Working will be optional for those who want the deluxe package.

Who owns everything?
Who owns the equipment and robots? Who owns the computational capacity and software? Who owns the natural resources needed for any equipment, robots or software to matter?
Musk is obviously brilliant in many ways, but this ain't one of them.

Read Player Piano by Vonnegut. He predicted this and the societal collapse it would cause way back in the 50s.
Bonus: he predicted NIL too in the book

So the issue of ownership is not a problem. It will owned by corporations. You are thinking of microeconomic impact but the model is on a macroeconomic scale. It’s like saying in the future there will be free energy. So in that environment not all energy is of equal value. So in Elon’s model the average quality of life will be very satisfactory, however there will be more than enough work for humans to maintain the system. For those who chose to do so they will have an incentive built into their work. He is using a greater good ethical system to justify this approach.
