A little Saints draft RUMINT.

Saints really like Bain, a lot. If he’s there at 8, unless a top 3 guy falls, I’m confident it’s gonna be him, given my conversation today.
This part breaks my heart, but they are concerned with Downs’ deep ball play. Staley loves that cover 6 so playing the deep ball at safety and even star is paramount.
Edit: this shouldn’t be news, but expect a defense heavy draft. They may also be in the draft a TE business if the right guy is there at the right spot.

No concerns about the 2024 car accident?
This checks. Saw a bunch of “insiders” doing mock drafts the other day and they had the same guy (Delp from UGA) at various spots (from Saints 1st pick in 4th to their 6th rounder) in their mocks.

Im cool with mostly defense but we 100% will be adding a WR or two at some point.

I sort of feel the same way, but do find it odd that it just happens to hit social media in draft month. Could it gain enough attention for the police there to “reopen the investigation”?
Maybe someone in the teens, early 20s, leaked it out hoping for a free fall

Gimme Brazzell or Bernard over Bell but otherwise solid.

Really? Is this your first year ever following the draft? Nearly every year there is a player or two who has a “questionable character” story conveniently become public just before the draft. It’s often leaked by teams who really want to draft the player but know under normal circumstances won’t be available when they pick OR agents of other players trying to raise the draft position of their client by trying to sabotage higher rated guys who aren’t their clients.

I doubt if anyone from the Saints with a say in the draft is telling anyone who they actually like and don’t like at this point in time

The last interview I saw with CKM was that he loved everyone.

A bazooka is a bit of an over kill, but if you don't care who cleans up the mess go for it I guess.

BS, Downs would mostly be used as a 3rd safety mostly at nickel.

Cool. Check my post history to see if I’m full of shite or not.

Downs is my guy. I wouldn’t shite all over my guy, lol.
We run a lot of cover 6 and guess what the star does in the 6?
I thought he tracked well, but the Saints have concerns.

You’d be suprised…

And the OP is right, the only two names ive heard recently are Delane and Bain. Now that might be only b/c those are two they think will be there. Someone rated higher might drop down unexpectedly. Apparently they thought Banks was going to the Raiders and Booker was going to be our pick last year.

Honestly that is a positive quality for a defensive player
A lot of top defensive players have rap sheets and/or shady circumstances around them
When you draft offense, you want someone cerebral w IQ.
When you draft defense, you want killers.

All kidding aside … if Bain is the pick I’ll be his biggest fan and hope he’s the one man wrecking crew that a lot of posters here think he is. If we’re going defense at 8 though I very much hope it’s one of Mansoor , Styles , or Downs. I feel very good about any of those 3 being extremely impactful right out of the gate. Or of course if something silly happens like Bailey or Reese falling to us unexpectedly that would be a run to the podium moment.
