My 83 year old dad goes to happy hour like twice a week.

My mom died in November. A couple of his old friends got him to start going out for drinks after that, and a while back they connected with a group of much younger women who they met at happy hour. Now they all go to happy hour together on Fridays and sometimes on Thursdays.

I guess what I’m saying is that my octagenarian father has a better social life than I do.

Party on, old man.

Thank you, brother. They were married just short of 65 years. He has had a rough time. Getting out is good for him.

That shite is going to keep him alive for longer. Isolation leads to really bad shite, especially for men. Great for your old man in light of the circumstances!

My 84 year old FIL would most definitely do the same if it weren't for my 84 year old MIL

My mom's husband (not my dad) is 82. My mom is sick and at the end of her life unfortunately, but her husband.. Starting Easter Sunday. He went to his daughter's for Easter, Wednesday went to some luncheon with friends, Friday was supposed to go to a bar with friends to watch the LSU game, I gave up my plans to go stay with her only for him to call about an hr before going saying he wasn't going because his friend was helping his daughter with something. I was there this afternoon and he left to go shoot pool and then ask me when he got home if I would keep an open schedule for this Friday because some band is playing and he is going

He says he is my mom's primary care taker, doesn't want anyone else to take that role, yet wants to come and go as he wants because... He is 82 and he doesn't want to miss out. I told him that everyone's number can be up at any time so his age isn't any more valuable (I get that it might be.. if we are playing the odds, but he is an a-hole so)...

But if you are in your 80s and can still get out, I say god bless em.

Tim Dillon once said drinking is for people under 27 and over 75, or something like that, and I'm starting to think he was right

On a much less grand scale, I get to hang out with younger women by volunteering at the local literacy council.

I would suggest finding somewhere where you can interact with younger women regularly.

If I only hung out with people my age, I would be bored out of my mind.

I am 65, they are 34-41.

Of course, 60-year-olds and 80-year-olds are really 2 different generations. He is really doing well, 80-year-olds a lot more susceptible to isolation that 60-year-olds just because a lot more are gone by then. He is doing great.

I read this post five times, and I still do not understand the point you are trying to make.

Kind of funny to think we can be 83 years old and still a slave to our sex drive, lol. It never sleeps.

I rambled on a bit. My point is that 80+ year olds live it up.
