I wish my dad was still alive, I'd beat his arse and take him to a strip club. He left a huge mess when he died.

My nearly 80 year old barber lost his wife a couple of years ago. Somehow he got involved with a Catholic service organization. He goes once a week and takes meals to shut ins. A bunch of Catholic ladies and one old Southern Baptist man.

My mom died in November. A couple of his old friends got him to start going out for drinks after that, and a while back they connected with a group of much younger women who they met at happy hour. Now they all go to happy hour together on Fridays and sometimes on Thursdays.

I guess what I’m saying is that my octagenarian father has a better social life than I do.

Party on, old man.
Celebrate this man getting all he can out of the few years he has left!

There’s a guy on twitter whose elderly dad does something similar but just with his friends and they make an agenda on what to talk about at the next meeting. It’s awesome.

Good for your old man. He's out there enjoying himself instead of sitting at home and wasting away.

I'm 63, and I hope I'm still a player like him when and if I'm that old.

My grandfather at 88 started dating a woman in another state and would drive to see her less than a year after my grandmother passed

I don’t see an issue. Your vows are till death do us part. No reason to wallow in misery alone till you die. Have friends, date, whatever makes you enjoy what time you have left

Wish I could get my dad to hang out with your dad. 80 year old pops just wants to stay home and do nothing. While I respect it, I encourage him to get out and go live some. I offer to bring him out, always winds up in me at his house doing chores and shite.

That shite is going to keep him alive for longer. Isolation leads to really bad shite, especially for men. Great for your old man in light of the circumstances!

Absolutely. I know a couple old guys like that who are widowers. They'll go to a bar and sip a beer, mostly just sit there and talk. One still goes to the same bar he and his wife used to go to together, where everyone knows him.

It's good for them to get out and socialize with nice people and avoid isolation.

Those women are teaching him how to dance and drink.

After he gets that down good comes the naughty stuff.
