I had an uncle whose 20 year old son drowned, and about 15 years later his wife died. Then he had a girlfriend for several years, and she died. He still went out dancing regularly with a group of friends, up until his death at age 85. His funeral was held at the old train depot building in Arcadia, we had a fish fry, and there was a band that played his songs while his friends danced. I would say it's what he wanted, but his sweet heart would have said "oh don't make any fuss over me". They don't make 'em like him anymore.

That's awesome.
When I worked in dancehalls, or make to one every now and then these days, the coolest thing is seeing those old people get up for their favorite song and are the best dancers in the room.

Random story. I was talking to an estate lawyer once. He told me early in his career he was constantly having the conversation with his older retired clients not to marry or spend crazy amounts of money on the hot younger second wife. They had their financial situation in order and the hot second wife would mess things up.
But then as the lawyer got older, he appreciated that these old guys worked their asses off their entire lives. If they wanted to spend their money on the hot younger second wife, that’s their call. He understood.

The girl who cuts my hair told me a story about how her grandfather in the atlanta area started having regular booty calls with this old gal up in Blue Ridge, Ga. Only problem was that he couldn’t drive anymore due to his advanced age. So she and her siblings had a rotation where they’d take turns driving him to Blue Ridge and back every weekend so he could do his thing

That's great for him.
It is a hard road back to life after that.
I say this respectfully, but kinda watch out that none of those women take advantage of him.
Not that he isn't sharp ordinarily, but grief sometimes takes away your decision-making skills b/c you really dont GAF.
That said, his buds are probably looking out for him and it's great he's getting out of the house

I think all or most of these women are married and they work together. Dad and his buddy will meet them out and everyone buys their own drinks. One of them invited my pops to her family’s Easter crawfish boil.

Good deal.
Apologies for inferring any disrespect, they sound like nice folks.

My 86 YO Dad has 2 "lady friends". They come see him mostly while we at work but my wife works from home so she knows them pretty well. They watch TV. He is more or less bedridden and on a feeding tube yet still has some game apparently. Old folks rock!

You can kiss your inheritance goodbye.

I have a 94 year old friend that lives in an assisted living complex.
They have a bar in the lobby. She doesn't drink, but plays bridge and nickle/dime/quarter dealer call poker most nights. The complex will also have casino nights with blackjack, roulette and craps. She says she likes to exercise her mind.

I'm replying to my previous post about elderly people "exercising their mind" with a personal story.
Disclaimer: I do not advocate elderly people gambling. I will encourage any cognitive personal education for elderly family members.
That said, my grandmother, who lived to a hundred or so (family Bible record) loved to play the ponies at Santa Anita racetrack. She would diligently scour these "numbers" and make a trip to the track. As a child, this information was like trying to read Chinese.
At 101? she died. Good person. She also was pretty much a vegetarian.
