What's the longest you can generally tolerate riding in a car?

I start going stir crazy at about 5.5-6 hours in. Needless to say, I'm a terrible road trip partner.

If I am driving, ten hours. As a passenger, ten minutes.

Five hours then a real good leg stretch and 3 more.

That's pretty weak. You have a mission don't focus on the discomfort, focus on the outcome. With *one* exception: pull over if you're drowsy. I remember "blinking" once in my 20s on a 12 hour drive in the middle of the night, and mile marker 187 was suddenly mile marker 179.

12-13 hours for me.

Back in November I drove 13.5 hours and stopped once to throw out my piss bottles and get more jerky. It was rough. When I drive that far I prefer to find a place to camp if the weather is cool/cold

8hrs is the max I usually plan for. I’ll go a little further if needed but I prefer not to. Diminished returns at that point for the trips I’m usually taking.

Younger me would power through 12-14hrs like it was nothing but I’m too old for that shite now.

Drove 27hrs straight from Nova Scotia once... do not recommend. It was awful. Am still scarred... did it with a 2/mo old and a 9yr old.

14 or so is the longest I will do by choice. I have done much longer out of necessity. 14 hours is about 1,000 miles, so usually 2 gas stops and I am off and back on the road in less than 6 minutes.

Really depends but having regular stops so you can stretch your legs for about 10-15 minutes helps and so does having a good audiobook. Last road trip (18.5 hours) we listened to Treasure Island, Sorceror's Stone and Chamber of Secrets. I would say 24 hours is my max since I would need to stop for rest in an actual bed.

Remove women from the equation, do you hate them that much?

I-45 from Houston to Dallas and back sucks balls. I'll sacrifice the 30m to stare at cows between Waco and Katy every time than deal with I-45.

Me and hubby switched off every so often, stopped for gas, pee breaks and diaper changes. Was switching off every 30m or so once we were rolling into SC. Frikkin horrid experience.

We stopped for hotels twice on the way up- to this day don't know why he insisted on driving straight back with no sleep.

Depends on my mindset at the time and where I’m going. Sometimes a dread a 5 hour drive but don’t mind a 10 hour drive.

I did 4 straight days of 15 hour drives across the country one time and just listened to a shite ton of podcasts. When I saw 4-6 hours remaining it seemed like nothing compared to what I had already driven.

No limit if I am alone. 15 minutes if my wife is with me.

I used to burn audio books to CDs to deal with the drive From SC to LA. The drive down for a game flew by, the drive back on Sunday was always a "gut it out," situation.

I don’t do the passenger thing unless it’s something short and local with the wife. All long trips, I drive. About ten hours is the longest I want to do behind the wheel nowadays.

Baton Rouge to Atlanta (7 and 1/2 hours) is about my limit for a typical road trip, but could go a bit farther if it's somewhat scenic. Like we've driven to Nashville a few times mainly because of the Memphis stop (Graceland, Basspro, Central City bbq, etc...)
