Will be "Daughter's Neighborhood Italian"

Will be old school Italian American/ Creole Italian recipes

A longtime sous at LPG will be joining him as CdC

Renovations are underway with private dining on the 2nd floor. Opening in the fall

That is interesting. He specifically mentioned LPG leaning towards French Creole in the same way this place will lean towards Creole Italian. So maybe it will be chef-ier versions of those dishes.

Give me some examples of Creole Italian dishes that could be expected.

A modernized version of Mosca's and Sal and Judy's would be pretty damn good.

Fish and veal dishes from Sal and Judy's and the chicken grande, Italian shrimp and Oysters Mosca. With updated wine lists could really work.

Isn't that sort of what Tommy Andrade did about 20 or so years ago?

Seems like the kinda thing that works for a while and then gets a bit tired.

I guess, but 20 years ago is like the stone age in the culinary world.

I suppose so. Come to think of it, I actually liked Eleven79's version of this idea more than Tommy's. I really miss what that place was like it its heyday.

Oh, goodness. Those wacky security people in that strip mall lot are going to be more out of control than ever.

I had high hopes for that location, so Creole Italian doesn't really do much for me

However, I will give it a chance regardless given location and the team behind it

Half the Vincent's menu.

Seafood with red gravy type dishes.

Yeah I find this to be an incredibly underwhelming and disappointing announcement. But I’ll wait and see

There are still so many old line neighborhood Creole Italian places in the metro area with devoted, though aging, clientele. I just don't see them pulling that much business away from established restaurants of that kind, even if they "modernize" the food.

Was it not possible to just re-open Upperline? Dang I miss that place. I'm sure this will be good but it just seems like a missed opportunity to revive an old community icon.

Always looking for a new Italian restaurant. Between Irene's, Gianna, Sophia, Osteria Lupo and Venizia there's a nice range of options. But its always nice to see a fresh take.

Lived around the corner from the Upperline when I was in school in Nola in the late 80's. Never got to eat there. I will have to try the new place.
