The president said he does not “want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States because I’m doing exactly what I was elected, IN A LANDSLIDE, to do,” in a Truth Social post.

Trump linked the pope’s ascension to his return to office as president.

“Leo should be thankful because, as everyone knows, he was a shocking surprise,” Trump said. “He wasn’t on any list to be Pope, and was only put there by the Church because he was an American, and they thought that would be the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump. If I wasn’t in the White House, Leo wouldn’t be in the Vatican.”

Trump said Leo is “Weak on Crime, Weak on Nuclear Weapons, does not sit well with me, nor does the fact that he meets with Obama Sympathizers like David Axelrod, a LOSER from the Left, who is one of those who wanted churchgoers and clerics to be arrested.

I have no problems with that tweet

The Catholic Church in the modern era has many flaws

Catholics don’t know their bibles…

A pope and who he symbolizes to begin with is not biblical

The pope had been critical of our government without regard to the war Islam perpetuates on the world nonstop

Preachers or Christian leaders need to learn to stay out of politics

POTUS has completely different responsibilities than a preacher

In Islam however- they want both aligned

That’s why Islam is problem for the world

I didn't vote for this clown to run up debt, tankk the economy and start a new war and the MAGA voters who are honest with themselves and not becoming born-again neo-cons didn't vote for this, either.

But it's totally acceptable if a preacher or preachers agree with the President in power, then they are righteous , correct? Doenright Biblical.

You MAGApologists are so two faced about religion it's laughable. On one hand you like to use the Christians as victims and extol how your faith should be able to inform your political positions, but then you say that a Pope should stay out of politics. But Doug Wilson and his weird Christian positions is totally OK in the corridors of US administration

Which is a better person,

A) A person who can quote scripture but doesn’t really practice what the preach.

B) A person who follows the Bible’s teachings, but cannot quote scripture chapter & verse, and lives their life trying to emulate the life of Jesus Christ, in their everyday prayer and actions.

My faith revolves around practicing / following the 10 Commandments, the 8 Beatitudes, 7 Corporal Works of Mercy and proclaim my faith by the words of the Nicene Creed.

I think both the Bible quoting crowd and the practicing Catholics can both exist in harmony. One is no better or worse than the other, just different but for the same goal, to get to heaven.

Woof. I agree that Catholics don’t know enough about their Bibles but for you to be able to speak about it doesn’t necessarily mean that you know what you’re talking about or that your interpretation is correct.

First, the Pope isn’t meant to stay out of moral issues just because they touch politics. Throughout Scripture, prophets confronted kings and rulers when moral truth was at stake. Speaking on war, justice, or human dignity isn’t “getting political,” it’s applying moral teaching to real-world situations.

Second, saying the papacy isn’t biblical doesn’t really hold up. Christ gives Peter a unique role, the keys, the authority to bind and loose, and the task of strengthening the brethren. That’s not identical to a modern administrative structure, but it is a clear foundation for leadership in the Church.

Third, flaws among Catholics don’t disprove the Church any more than flawed Christians disprove Christianity. The standard is what the Church teaches, not how well every individual lives it out.

And on the broader point, lumping everything into politics misses the bigger issue. The Church’s role is to speak truth about faith and morals regardless of who is in power. If anything, that independence is a strength, not a weakness. I do wish they would speak out against Islam and other false or heretical religions more than they do. Especially those that are doing the most harm to the world right now.

The clown Pope needs to stay in his lane. He isn’t Christ. If he wants to wade into politics he should expect a political response.

Now I think Trump cold have done a much better post.

Of course you are, he makes you too uncomfortable in your positions. The last thing you want or any Trumpist MAGAwants is to critically examine their positions . Might expose certain levels of ignorance you are not ready to face.

I think the New Testament commandments 11&12 are pretty useful also
Love your neighbor,,,,and forgive them when they screw up

Exodus 20:16 is the most abused commandment

Not really. Clerics need to stand clear of politics and politics needs to stand clear of the church. I do not want to hear a word out of a religious service about Trump, pro or con.
