He soft coated it some but damn do they need to improve on the field. That one inning was just spazzing all over the field and players having zero situational awareness.

A system full of paid mercenaries has its advantages and disadvantages now dunnit.

It wouldn’t have matter if they were paid, or transfers or anything else…
D1 baseball players have to make those plays. Clauss fumbled all over himself, Dardar made a terrible throw.
They had a fricking seizure in themiddle of the infield for a half inning. They should have given up no runs and they gave up 3.

Pretty well said , Coach. Not the best roster in the country but they are capable of playing better than this. This team hasn’t played its best baseball

Nothing against what Stanny has done this year, but that throw from LF was just terrible. Was his injury that bad that he can't throw? The collective team defense simply sucks.

I think Jay is committed to winning championships, not to a "system." He's willing to try new things. But I see so many wild lineup changes even this far into the season, and I want to say 'the new thing is stop trying new things.' To me, it doesn't look like this team can withstand too many more lineup changes.
We're getting close to tax when Skip said you need to have you're lineup set.
I suspect after every season he looks back and says to himself the things he should've done differently. Wonder what he'd say thus far into '26?

Yeah that’s what he really wanted to get across from my perspective.

Yep, that’s a straight up gut punch. You guys suck and will be replaced if you don’t get better.

Maybe, but even then, there are things they are doing very poorly that really can't be all blamed on talent or even partly - which by the way IMHO ain't THAT bad or we would not have been ranked No. 1 pre-season and had our portal class ranked No. 1. For me that narrative just doesn't hold water.
Can't tell me Sac State has anywhere close to our talent level, or Bethune Cookman, or Southeastern. I could go on and on.

He knows the infield defense is not good, but makes them shift and puts bad defenders in positions they aren't used to playing
Im not anti-shift at all but shifting is a next-level thing. You have to be able to do the basics before you start shifting people around.
People are bashing Clauss but how many times has he practiced receiving a double play throw at 2B, which being positioned directly behind the bag. That isn't an easy play at all.

100 percent agree. And the Kelly Leak routine for Milam puts the other infielders in much worse positions

“Fixed through recruiting better” tell ya everything ya need to know. Ruckert, Claus, Simpson, Carraway, Yorke, Dardar and both catchers have been below average defensive players.

Quit defending Clauss high schoolers make that play. Lame excuse he was nowhere near the bag. The moment was too big for him.

You have no clue what you are talking about, as usual.
