I drove back for one last meeting here after recently moving out of state. I could not believe my eyes. Where is the loop?

They're currently on Phase 3 of the project

quote:

Phases 1 and 2 have already rehabilitated the lower portions of the building, and our team is now leading Phases 3 and 4, which will complete the rehabilitation of the remaining tower and lower roofs.

It is expected to total $113.9 million, according to Louisiana’s construction plan.

Went to the observation deck the other day, supposedly going to be shut down (the observation deck) for ~5 years or so for renovations, is what the security guard told me.

I remember we went on a class field trip there in middle school. We all went to the top and I was scared as hell. I hate heights and you could feel it swaying.

Not quite..

The capitol is getting a big exterior renovation. One part is to remove each piece of the outer stone, clean it, lower it, do some sort of chemical treatment to help preserve it, then put it back up.

Another part is that they are having to gut everything from the observation deck upward because so much of the metal infrastructure up there is rusting and the concrete has been cracking.

They're going at least all the way up the "shaft". No idea if they are doing the Senate and House chamber exteriors.

That means 10 years at least.

Couldn't a fleet of those pressure washing drones with AI do this in a month?

It's very important that we spend millions of dollars on the building where our government goes to frick us.

I don’t think the Army Corps of Engineers will flood out the low lying areas of BR.

While they’re at it, they should go ahead and dig up Huey and replant him in Winn Parish. The fact that we treat him like some ‘god’ is a reminder as to why we’re last in almost everything good.

What’s the current status of the building? I was going to drive through this summer and swing by. I always enjoy a trip up to the top, but if I can’t do that, I don’t see the point.

Pressure washing would cause stones to start falling. They are doing a hell of a lot more than that to clean it.

I cannot fanthom how it costs this much to rennovate a building.

Even constructing a brand new building shouldnt cost this much.
