Haven't done this in quite some time. Any tips, tricks, recs?

I went to Mattress Firm on Saturday and while I walked out, the salesman "doubled" my savings from $300 to $600 on what I was looking at.

Some things are worth paying for. Hubby and I bought a Saatva about 5 years ago. Best money we ever spent.

I had no idea till recently that you can haggle with mattresses exactly like a car dealership.

Good Luck

I have been needing a mattress for quite a while. Every time I decide to pull the trigger, I get overwhelmed with the amount of choices price ranges available and just give up.

We have a sleep number, wouldn't recommend it unless you get the most premium option. Even then, the value of being able to change your firmness setting doesn't really apply to most people. We figured that out after we got it.

We bought my oldest a Nectar hybrid and it's very comfortable. My wife wishes we had one instead of the sleep number.

That's all I got.

Get an all latex mattress. Talaylay natural latex. Best mattress I’ve ever had. Medium firm is pretty good for most people.

Arizona premium mattress

It’s somewhat expensive, but better than foam mattresses all over the place.

This is what we have
We both say it’s the best mattress we’ve ever slept on

I put together a mattress with 8" TPC springs and 3" soft latex from Foam Sweet Foam. at first we had a 3" medium. wife said it was like sleeping on a rock so we went soft. bought the encasement from APM, though.

I'm on my 2nd tempurpedic. First one lasted 11 years and was worth every penny.

Buy online. They almost all have 90+ day test periods. I like Zinus, I've bought a few that have lasted a long time.

The local stores will *never* carry the same model numbers, on purpose. They want to make it impossible for you to compare. The USA mattresses are made in the same 2-3 factories whether they're Vera Wang or sold at Sam's Club.

We have a 15 yr old Tempurpedic. I’m thinking it’s time to replace. Might look at Saatva. I have one of their pillows and love it

Here is a post I bookmarked a long time ago about mattress buying. It's another poster who used to sell mattresses.

OT Board

Summary
quote:

Beauty rest is now trash. They are made in China. Avoid.

Simmons sucks. Made in China same as Beauty rest(same company). Avoid.

Sealy or Serta are the ONLY two brands I would touch at low to mid cost. That's it.

At upper end. Go Tempur. That simple. There is a reason every major retailer carries them. They have the lowest return rate in the market(by over 10 percent), and the lowest warranty claims(less than 2 percent of sold mattresses) despite having the best warranty in terms of full swap, at only 3/4 an inch of dip. The new Tempur beds have almost no pressure points. Its absurd to sleep on. I will never buy another type of bed.

There are 4 or 5 mattress factories within miles of my house in Tupelo MS. Ai says there are 300+ mattress factories in the US,

Buy online. I got a ghostbed mattress about 6 years ago and it still feels like it did the day I got it. Most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on.

Check out a guy name David The Mattress & Furniture guy on FB. Its a place in Prarieville. He supposedly has great deals and a nice guy. I see all the raves, just haven't had a reason to go see him yet.

I may need to as my back is starting to hate my mattress. Part of getting old i guess.

Came here to post this..... a mattress is worse than buying a car.

zinus mattress

When I built our new house I bought this for 350 bucks as a spare mattress.

It was nice enough that I've bought one more in the california king and two queens.

Memory foam mattress that is NOT made in China.

ETA: it is a firm mattress. It is perfect if you have any sort of thoracic issues.
