No way it’s a good hire. Recruiting has changed. Was never a great X and O coach, recruiter or developed talent. North of 60. Maybe a decent bag man, but we have NIL.

Johnny may not have been a great HC but he could recruit

4 star Tim Quarterman
4 star Jordan Mickey
5 star Jarell Martin
5 star Ben Simmons
5 star Antonio Blakeney
4 star Brandon Sampson

That’s pretty good recruiting if you ask me

His only bad year of recruiting was the post Simmons year but we were doomed no matter what after that

I’m ok with it if that’s what it takes to appease the Daddy Dale faction and rally their support for Wade. As Wade said yesterday, he’s the head coach and all decisions ultimately go through him

Jones and Stansbury can both recruit. Wade is clearly going all in on getting the horses.

I think Stansbury is also a good coach, unlike Johnny. Happy he's on board.

Johnny can help generate funds too with his connections. It’s a solid hire. Welcome back Johnny!

Yeah Johnny will help with local politics and behind the scenes support I think.

There will be some other splash assistant coach hires, according to the folks I’ve spoken to.

I, for one, cannot. But I don't understand the melts. If you're excited about WW coming back, just relax and trust the guy. If you're pissed that he's back, well, you're probably just determined to be a miserable soul.

Johnny Jones and Trent Johnson were each half of a good coach.

Trent was a great x’s and o’s guy who couldn’t recruit. Johnny was a great recruiter who couldn’t manage the game in the moment.

Borderline great recruiting honestly. That's 6 NBA players.

Ready for this to not be a thing anymore. I can't believe it still is.

I wonder what Johnny’s state retirement status is? Like if he needs a couple more years in LAs system to qualify for the next level of pension. Not that that would be a reason to hire him, but it might be a consideration.

Seems so odd that Wade would hire him that it makes me wonder if it was a stipulation from some of the possible detractors. But then again, that's just me wondering. I did always like Johnny though despite his shortcomings as a coach. He loves LSU and did recruit some really good players. Hopefully it all works out.

Duop Reath and Craig Victor were solid additions to the team. Johnny Jones just couldn't coach.
