Pope Leo says God rejects prayers of leaders who wage wars

- Pope Leo said on ?Sunday that God rejects the prayers of leaders who start wars and have "hands full of blood", in unusually forceful remarks as the Iran war entered its second month.
Addressing tens of thousands in St. Peter's Square on Palm Sunday, ?the celebration that opens the holy week leading up to Easter for the world's ?1.4 billion Catholics, the pontiff called the conflict "atrocious" and said Jesus cannot be ?used to justify any wars.
The pope, who is known for choosing his words carefully, has repeatedly called for an immediate ceasefire in the conflict and said on Monday that military airstrikes are indiscriminate and should be banned. Lot more religious people on here than me ( I try) but I thought GOD listened to all prayers

"This is our God: Jesus, King of Peace, who rejects war, ?whom no one can use to justify war," Leo, the first U.S. pope, told crowds in ?brilliant sunshine. "(Jesus) does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war, but rejects them, saying: 'Even though you make many prayers, I will not listen: your hands are full of blood'," he said, citing a Bible ?passage. Leo did not specifically name any world leaders, but he has been ramping up criticism of ?the Iran war in recent weeks.

Does God hear the prayers of homosexual pedophiles?

So, God never heard King David?

Does Pope Leo say that God rejects prayers of priests who do unthinkable sexual acts with children or those Clergy leaders who turn a blind eye to said priests?
What does God say is all that matters!

Are we supposed to be offended on behalf of Pete Hegseth and Bibi Netanyahu and everybody else responsible for this disgrace in Iran because of these comments? Pope Leo didn’t say it, God did.
quote:
When you spread out your hands in prayer,
I hide my eyes from you;
even when you offer many prayers,
I am not listening.
Your hands are full of blood!
Wash and make yourselves clean.
Take your evil deeds out of my sight;
stop doing wrong.
Learn to do right; seek justice.
Defend the oppressed.
Take up the cause of the fatherless;
plead the case of the widow.

I think a lot of Christians are in this weird place where they think we can all just live peacefully and be kind to each other. I don’t think political leaders have that luxury. It’s their duty to protect the people and waiting until Iran attacks us to do something makes you weak, not a good Christian. And I’m saying this as a faithful Catholic who prays the Pope guides us to a more unified Church.

I didn't think "war is bad" would get such a visceral reaction from the OT. Pretty convenient that Jesus said in the gospel today "yeah Peter, cut his shite off!"

You can take the pope out of Chicago but you can’t take Chicago out of the pope

Pope may be talking about the Iranian Islamic Regime, for all we know. The Regime has been endlessly at war with the USA, and, as we now know, has been building up offensive power more and more.

So the Catholic wars throughout history, God heard their prayers then?

Well that's his opinion

Leo, how about a little more Deus Vult, a lot less child rape?

Same God that commanded the Israelites to cut off the foreskins of their enemies and drowned the entire Egyptian chariot corps?
Kind of off brand

Well I guess this shows you that Catholics don’t read scripture anymore because a large part of it he book is believers waging war.
David, Joshua, Gideon, Samson, Caleb, and Deborah all waged war by listening and trusting in God.

Because a Pope called on Christians to take action and recover the holy lands, tens of thousands of Christians died in those wars, now we call them "Crusades".
They were bloody awful, they tore families apart when the men never returned home.
The waging of wars has had a lot of Christians die at their instigation. Or did he not pay attention in school in Chicago, nor has he read any history.
