One of the people with deep LSU ties who is also close to Wade told The Athletic that discussions about Wade coming back to Baton Rouge go back to last summer, when Rousse was just a potential candidate for a vacant presidency.

The person said Schroyer’s role will be to oversee Wade’s program and baseball, leaving AD Verge Ausberry to focus on Kiffin and football. Schroyer is a former basketball coach, including a stint as head coach at McNeese before taking over as AD.

The person also said Wade is set to bring new donors to LSU basketball with whom he had built relationships at McNeese.

This is why the NIL Budget is so large. Wade knows marketing and promotion. He will fully be worth whatever NIL budget we give because Wade has helped raised alot of money in the past. Hell the man turned a profit in a big way every year he was here.

This is not true. He will not oversee baseball. Maybe a typo? Although weird for The Athletic.

Wade bringing in his own money guys is good for baseball.

I don't know anything about Schroyer to know if him overseeing baseball is a good thing.

Well he took over a program 3 million in the hole and turned it to 11 million surplus. The fact he was able to do that at what is a commuter school is impressive.

I immediately think of the rantards melting over the recent board of supervisors appointee from lake Charles that isn’t an alum but is loaded.

Read the room, idiots. We are channeling new sources of money.

I complained at first because that new board member isn't an alumnus of LSU, but if he brings in a substantial amount of new money, then I definitely can overlook that.

You realize most the board members at any given time are probably not alumni

You don't "give" an NIL budget. You can give Rev Share...which is capped obviously.

NIL is based on what the individual athletes can get from a market standpoint. I suppose LSU could try and steer some donors of those NIL $ in certain directions, but the NIL contracts have to be 3rd party approved.

At least they are "supposed" to be.

I do.

Yeah I could see Heath handling mens and womens basketball. But not baseball.

You can't argue with his results at McNeese. Raised millions in a city like Lake Charles for basketball NIL and naming rights to the gym.

There is no budget. There's no limit on what donors can give in NIL deals. That's the falsehood that the bozos who constantly claimed poor ole McMahon never had any money constantly missed. It wasn't "LSU" sole job to shake the money tree. It was McMahon's...and he didn't want to do it.

Wade will. Wade did it immediately the first time he was here. He did it immediately in LC when he got the McNeese job. There are a lot of LC people who never supported McNeese sports in great numbers before who started given more because Wade made and cultivated those relationships.

The good thing is that LSU and McNeese are so far apart on the level of competition that you have a lot of people in SW Louisiana who are both McNeese AND LSU fans. People who may have gone to McNeese, but have football season tickets for LSU and donate to both schools.

Wade will unlock the revenue streams. McMahon passed out donuts once a year.
