They aren't closing. They're moving - keeping the lights, rebuilding, and incorporating it into the same general area.

ETA: NM, looks like they're doing it LSU style..

Tulane's new on campus student housing rule is terrible for the city and I don't want a huge dorm on Claiborne w/ drunk kids stumbling across 6 lanes of road at all hours of the day/night.

Same day they announce Checkpoint Charlies on Esplanade shutting down.

Two dumpy places that were mostly empty most of the time that people are now coming out the woodwork to screech hysterically over them closing.

I like the idea of both being open as well, but I guess I understand reality of things.

I went to frostop in BR years ago when I was student because I loved that root beer.

When I lived in Nola I went to CC one time and it was super depressing and the only people in there were 70 year old professional drunks

Ted’s was terrible back in the 80s when I worked right next door at shanahans. Buds around the corner was better & cheaper

You can still buy it outside of Frostop.

That was on a corner, right? S. Tonti & Calhoun? If you're old enough to remember that, do you remember Bud's Seafood across the street? Great place.

That’s a pretty bland looking building but I do like how they incorporated the restaurant into it.

The Frostop on Claiborne usually has 20 people in it at any time during the morning or afternoon. It’s far from dumpy for a diner.

I would assume most of neighborhood will be out in protest soon. There will need to be some designated cross walks and street lights built.
