If AI eventually takes all jobs and we end up on UBI - how would one advance?

I hope this is all fear porn, but if AI eventually disrupts most jobs (including physical labor), and we end up living off of gov't UBI, won't it create a caste system of those with assets before and those without?

How would one move up in the world if you have no ability to make more money through hard work?

I know this is the more dystopian viewpoint, but it's kind of unsettling to think you may just be stuck where you are.

I'm not even sure how you prepare for would may be coming.

There will always be the haves and the have mores.

I find Elon’s theory of “no money needed” full of holes.

So does that mean that I can have the following

Private Jet
Mansions in the most elite coasts
Best food and drink

Historically, violent revolutions have been the answer to your question, unfortunately.

I feel it will closer resemble the Idiocracy movie.

Of course it is. These tech bros live in a tiny bubble of self starters on the spectrum. There are millions to billions of people on earth who aren’t that and just have varying degrees of necessary purpose when they wake up in the morning.

Some are happy to get up and punch the clock to take care of their family. Some bust their asses through hard work to make a bit more. Some hustle their asses off to build things to really get ahead.

The idea that we won’t need anything because of AI and automation and everyone will just pursue their passion projects is hilarious. People will either go nuts or just become more beholden to their devices. Attention will somehow become the new currency.

The work will change. But it also did through the agricultural revolution, the Industrial Revolution, and the technology revolution. People adapt and change. Not eliminate.

That's the argument that this time is NOT different, but the counter is that this is different.

Unlike those examples, instead of moving jobs into other areas, it just takes them completely. AI bros argue there is nothing a human could do an AI can't do better.

I don’t think that’s entirely accurate this time around.

You don't. History shows that feudal society is the norm across human civilization.

We give it different names: billionaires, slavery, serfdom, indentured servitude, royals, etc, but ultimately, one class will Have, and another class will be Indebted. The Indebted cannot become Have, short of violent uprising.

Elon is a clown. Covid lockdowns are accurate to what happens when people don’t have work or meaning.

Your question is why socialism doesn't work, and your scenario will never happen.

The desire to advance, move up and improve your situation is human nature and cannot be overcome - even with brutal violence.

The biggest difference between a tool and a worker is the boss tells the worker to perform a task, and the worker uses a tool to perform the task. The tool cannot perform the task on its own.

Task Examples:
Take orders from our customers.
Deliver the items in this truck to our customers.
Draft a contract for our customer.
Draft a training document for our workforce.
Create and optimize this chemical process in our facility.
Manage this project to meet project requirements.
Create a 30-second commercial for our customer.
Draft an investment plan for our customer.
Diagnose and prescribe a treatment for our customer.

In the Agricultural, Industrial, and Technology Revolutions, the methods and tools changed. The workers did not change. The farm workers were still the farm workers. The factory workers were still the factory workers. The tech workers were still the tech workers.

Mechanized farming, factories, and computers are all tools. They generally did not replace workers because the boss cannot tell the tools to perform a task. The boss tells the worker to perform the task, and the workers uses a tool to perform the task.

But what happens to workers when the boss can tell the tool to perform the task? With AI, the boss can, or soon will be able to, tell the tool to perform the task, at least until the boss gets replaced by AI.
