What WRs in the draft can be actual #1 WRs?

It seems a lot of national guys have us taking Tate or Lemon at 8.. but are either of them #1 WRs?
We have Olave and Vele who are really good #2 and #3 options.. if we are going to draft WR high it should be someone who is clearly better than them, and I’m not sure the top guys are.
Maybe Tyson, who I think is the most talented WR and reminds me of Odell, but he has injury issues and do we want 2 WRs with injury issues?
TBH I think a healthy Chris Bell has maybe the best chance to be a true #1 and has a lot of AJ Brown to his game.
I also think there’s a ton of depth at this WR class and someone like Antonio Williams in the 3rd could be as impactful for our offense as taking any of the first rd guys.

Cooper Jr has star potential imo and can be that 1 production WR.

Chris Bell was the most impressive looking receiver I saw out of this class, but I know there are some concerns about him. I saw Lemon a good bit, and I like him a lot, but he struck me more as the kind of guy you "should" be able to get later in the draft than #8. While I love the "idea" of getting a WR1 with the 8th pick, I am a little nervous that there won't be such a guy at 8. And I really want this pick to hit big because it could accelerate the Saints' progression with Shough if you end up with a real difference maker.

I like Chris Bell but he does have concerns other than his injury recovery. Scouts that I’ve read have highlighted that he doesn’t run a full route tree. Very limited in his routes and depended a lot of his physical traits more than refined skills.
That weakness can be taught but it takes time, dedication, and desire to get better at finer aspects of WR play.

Advanced stats show that Lemon and, to a lesser extent Tate, compare to some of the top guys that are in the league right now. They may lack the raw RAS of the “prototype” but they can ball. Both fit well next to Olave style wise. I’d be happy with either.

All Pro Olave #2 option….

It's honestly a very weak year for receivers. I'd go slot receiver in a later round and get your #1 in next year's draft.

I wouldn’t say weak… just not the top end stars… it’s very deep

Tyson 100% could be. The only thing is his injury history. The skill set and talent is there.

We have never had a WR with the quick twitch suddenness of Tyson. Olave can create the type of seperation as him, but he is more smooth.

No receiver in this class is good enough to be a #1 and push Olave to #2.
Chris Bell could be a good 1b to Olave's 1a. But Bell is a round 2 pick.
I'd rather take an OT over WR in round 1.

You nailed it, but heaven forbid people look at WR like they look At other positions and recognize that Olave, like Tate, is not a 1.
Tyson and bell are at the top of the list for me. I really want bell because he can be had in the 2nd and he already has chemistry with Shough.
Perfect example. You’re looking at production and not position. It’s like a dominant RT vs a really good LT. Olave is a dominant RT in this example. He will never be a true 1. He cannot hold up when exploring the whole route tree.

Size, YAC, contested catch ability are three things elite WRs have that Olave doesn’t. There are WRs in this class who possess these traits, therefore they do have the ability to be better than Olave

Bring Bell in, 2nd round. They have tremendous chemistry and Bell is just as good as the top guys if he recovers from his injury. Go defense at 8.

So what do you do about WR1 for the 2026 season?!?!
Just say “frick it”?!?!

I mean he is that guy and has ranked 18th, 17th, 149th (8 games played), and 8th in yards each year (and this includes TEs and HBs as well as WRs).
If a player is ranking in the top 20 in every (healthy) season, how is that not a number 1 receiver? Unless my math is bad and we only have 16 teams in the league or something.
People really turned on this dude quick after Carr fricking nearly threw him into several comas.
Edit:
I think people need to learn what certain terms mean. People say number one receiver but I think they really mean a top 5 receiver. Huge difference there.

People constantly flexing on Olave not being a number 1 receiver are retarded. Absolutely retarded.

I will agree he isn't the prototypical "number 1 receiver" but neither is Amon-Ra, Steve Smith, Wes Welker, etc.
Dude is putting up crazy good stats and had just one bad year because he was lead into 2 HORRIBLE hits.
