The BBB is a strong arm organization that tries to force companies to pay them to to be "accredited" and then get favorable treatment.

BBB is upset that Buc-ee's is not participating in their grift and has put out a story (through Gray media) that 33 Buc-ee’s locations received an ‘F’ rating from Better Business Bureau. Since the BBB is not a government agency and has absolutely no power Buc-ee's simply doesn't respond to any complaints filed through them.

More businesses should take notice and not participate with the BBB.

quote:

The grades came from 88 customer complaints to Buc-ee’s that were not addressed in a timely fashion, according to BBB officials. The oldest unanswered complaint was filed in March 2023. The most recent was filed in February.

The F-rated Buc-ee’s locations are in Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Kentucky and Tennessee.

Of the 38 Buc-ee’s locations listed on the BBB website, 33 have F ratings, two have A ratings and two have C- ratings. According to the Buc-ee’s website, there are 54 locations.

The BBB is the one that ackowledeged in the article that Buc-ee's doesn't buy in to their BS.

quote:

According to the BBB, a Buc-ee’s official said the company does not respond to complaints submitted through the BBB.

The BBB said its grades, which “are not a guarantee of a business’s reliability or performance,” are based on various factors including complaint history and how disputes are handled.
WAFB

As a side note, it's always funny to me when I hear someone threaten a business with "calling the BBB" like that should scare them.

BBB made sense pre-internet/social media/online reviews.

Completely irrelevant now.

I cant believe that people still think the BBB is relevant. Facebook reviews damn near hold more weight than a private company handing out grades.

I can’t count on zero fingers how many times I’ve used the BBB to review a company before using their products.

Saw this story last week in the DM (US version) and thought it was odd. Given the number of people who visit these stores, they are doing something right. One of the complaints was about cars parked at the gas pumps. How is Buccees supposed to mitigate people being inconsiderate assholes? Andif you can't find an open pump at a Bucees, you dont need to be behind the wheel.

The funniest thing to me is Buc-ee's are arguably the nicest and cleanest "gas station/convivence" stores on Earth.

BBB gives it an "F" while a Circle-K in North BR probably has a "B"

It's a pay to play racket.

Good for Bucees. I ignore anything that comes at me from the BBB. It's useless these days. Yelp is basically an extortion company. Google reviews are really the only thing that matter these days.

Anybody who is willing to actually file a claim against Bucees with the BBB is someone I’d prefer to not have do deal with if I’m ever in a Bucees anyway.

Literally said the same thing to my wife.

Speaking of internet reviews, whatever happened to that brewery in NOLA where the owner shouted his woke ideology on his social media platforms?

I complained about a national home service company through the BBB last year after being screwed out of $150. Was getting no satisfaction on the refund request at the company local level and they wouldn’t escalate. I don’t have social media to blast them, so I took a shot and reported them to the BBB, mostly because I was pissed off and it was the principle of the matter more so than the amount. I figured it would go nowhere, but surprisingly, the company responded and processed the refund within a week.

Make a complaint to the BBB, and the business may or may not respond.

Post a negative review on Facebook, and you're likely to get a response within a day from a manager.

The F ratings for multiple locations are based on a sample size equivalent to 2 or 3 minutes worth of customer interactions at a single store?

I’ve had only positive experiences using the BBB. Issues with several businesses behaving poorly that suddenly resolved my issues after contacting the BBB, so there must be some incentive for businesses to play well with the organization.

Yes. The BBB model is they charge businesses to be “accredited.” Those businesses get favorable treatment.

Any business that doesn’t want to participate in giving the BBB money is treated much harsher. If you don’t respond to the BBB they give your business an F.

The BBB pretends they help consumers by keeping businesses accountable, but it’s just a massive money making scheme for them where they use unwitting consumers to help shake down a business.

This pleases me. I'd like to see the BBB slink into the irrelevant abyss they deserve to be in.

I've been to Bucee's locations all over the southeast and the only complaint I can ever think of having is that the traffic trying to get out of the Foley, AL location is almost always a shite show on weekends in the summer.

Other than that, no other gas station comes close to the food or restroom cleanliness. You won't find a better place to stop on a road trip when you're hungry and need to take a shite.

BBB making a fool of themselves.

Ain’t no one going to take them serious if they go after Buc-ee’s.

This is going to work out quite poorly for them.

The BBB, I mean.
