The weekend starters are doing their jobs- combined 3.03 ERA, 16 BBs, 94 Ks over 65.1 IP, .193 BAA.

Has to be tough for these guys knowing that quality starts may not be enough, feeling more weight on their shoulders and pressure to pitch flawlessly to help overcome the lack of run support, an inconsistent bullpen, and shaky defense.

I hope things get better sooner than later, so strong starting pitching performances aren't being wasted by what looks to be one hell of a rotation in the making.

I can’t be the only person who thinks everyone saved their biggest overreaction for this year.

This team isn’t bad. They have played like shite for two weeks, and they aren’t a national seed probably. But this isn’t a bad team.

We’ll host a regional.

Among the 16 SEC teams

AVG - 14th
OBP - 12th
SLG - 11th
R - 9th
SB - 14th

ERA - 16th
AVG - 11th
WHIP - 14th

Fielding - 16th

This is across the board below average to bad. This is on the easiest OOC schedule in the SEC so far btw. No series or tournaments against decent competition. Not even a decent single-game opponent in Jacksonville. 12-5 against teams with between 0-1 players that we would even offer a roster spot to

Oh and this might be the best and deepest the SEC has ever been in baseball in its entire history

Seems way easier to argue this year’s team is cooked and defer hosting expectations to 2027

This is not something to bitch about, but go ahead I guess. Its never prevented us from success in the past.
2nd to last in ERA, not last.

what? Thats just not true.

10th in the conference isnt bottom 3.

Based on what metric? Because it isn't based on SOS.

Notre Dame is 9-4 and 2-1 in conference with a 37 ELO ranking. If thats not decent I dont know what is.
UCF has an ELO of 51 overall with a 9-5 record and have just won 5 in a row. They are also decent by most metrics.

Based on what exactly? Florida just lost a series to high point and nearly got swept. Tennessee just lost to wright state, and before that lost a series to Kent state. Arkansas just split a 4 game series with Stetson. Vanderbilt is 10-7, they are 1-5 against the decent to good teams on their schedule. Missouri is typical Missouri...awful. South carolina is also 12-5 and lost to Queens, Northern Kentucky, and Army.

We play 4 of the 6 SEC schools I just listed.

We are 10-2 in games they've pitched. I'm sure they are fine. Its not the mountain ya'll want it to be when these guys have been on the mound. The bats have just gone cold for several days.

Guidry has been really good out of the pen. He deserves credit as well. Those are the top 4 arms. They give you a chance in any game just need to find offense to win the games.

Oh, well apparently you aren’t following the rest of the SEC too closely right now outside of Texas and Mississippi State because quite a few SEC teams so far this preseason has been getting their shite pushed in by the same level bad teams you claim LSU is losing to.. Actually so far this conference is looking weaker than it has in many many years.

As of right now, Texas and Mississippi State are the only two really impressive teams in this conference. I guess you could add A&M and maybe Auburn but I haven’t really watched them any yet. I just know A&M got arse blasted by UCLA a few games back.

It may seem that way to those who fail to account for the fact that there are nearly 40 games left in the season.

Agree with everything but this. No way of having a clue at this time.

So you're on record predicting a sub .500 SEC record for us then?

Hey baw, I appreciate your optimism, but in case you haven't heard, the sky is falling and Jay has lost his edge. Let the rantards have their fun while they still can....

This is why I'm surprised how doom and gloom everybody is. I feel like the same thing happens every year. As the season goes on, the right guys emerge in the lineup and in the bullpen. They'll hit and the bullpen hierarchy will sort itself out.

What you typically can't develop midseason is starting pitching. You either have it or you don't. It's the most important 3 roster spots on the team IMHO and we seem to have it. Schmidt on Sunday is something we didn't have in 23 or 25. This team is going to be fine.

You can't slam LSU for their pre-conference performance and then throw this out there. Have you been paying attention to other SEC teams?

Yes, I am calling sub .500 record for this team in SEC. I hope to hell that I am wrong but this team looks way more like 2024 than 2023 or 2025.

Relievers haven’t been terrible either, for the most part. There has been a couple innings where they gave up too many free passes, but they haven’t been terrible.

The bats have been ice cold, and they’ve made fielding errors at the worst times.

This team still has a lot of talent, but they need to start putting it together!
