I've got a line on a 11-87 for a decent price. Question is what years did they go down in quality and are there any worth owning.

I had a left hand 11-87 premier it was about a 1996-1998 model and it spent more time in the gunshop than my house. It constantly jammed, broke an extractor and had a spring break in the reciver. My uncles and grandpa and older cousins all had older model 1100s and never had issues. One of only a few guns that I got rid of and don’t regret.

I have an 11-87 Special Purpose that I bought in 1988. It has been a stellar gun and I still duck hunt with it to this day. The young guys shooting Benellis and berettas always make fun of me when we are going to the blinds…they are seldom still making fun when we return, though!

Just clean it after shooting (including the little ports that go into the barrel) and it will be a good gun.

The only thing I have a problem with is the weight of the gun. It is heavy, so if you have a lot of walking to do, it would be a problem. I go from the boat directly to the blind, so the extra weight cuts down on recoil.

I have a 20 and 12 gauge. That was our main duck hunting guns for ever. I killed my first 3 deer with them.

I would be wary of earlier 90s and after.

I think remington guns from the 80s are typically pretty good.

I had an early 90s 1187 and the bolt did not lock in the receiver, the gun fired and as you can imagine there was a "catastrophic failure".... Remember did replace the gun and i found out this was an issue w 1187s. I sold the replacement and have moved onto browning and Beretta. Would i buy one and shoot it regularly, no.

I have a 20 ga Rem model 11-48. Got it from my uncle and really do not know much about it. Looks like they were produced between 1948-1968
It looks to be mint, need to get it out and shoot it

I have an 1100 and 11-87 from the 90s and I bought an 11-87 in college around 2012.

All are great guns. I use a Franchi now but I still enjoy them.

I had no idea there was any such thing! I wouldn’t shoot steel shot in it!

11-48's are pretty awesome. Super light weight. Cheaper competition for the A5 and lots of similarities between them.
