If you haven't watched basketball since Will Wade was fired...

maybe you aren't an LSU basketball fan. That is totally fine, I don't think you need to like everything.
But I think its a weird brag/appeal to justify your opinion on what we should and shouldn't do with the coach.
If you haven't watched LSU basketball in 5 years, I care 0 about your opinion on LSU basketball. You are not a LSU basketball fan.
Matt McMahon won his first SEC game... if you were not watching that night, I bet you weren't really ever that bought in. You just really like to bitch, and this is an easy target.
*Disclaimer. I think we should obviously fire the worst coach in my lifetime at LSU. This is not a defense of McMahon. It is just annoying to hear from so many people claiming they don't even watch or care about LSU basketball*

This post wouldn’t fit in the thread 3 posts down about not watching?

There’s a correlation there bud

They fired who was statistically going to be the greatest basketball coach lsu ever had in its very long history.
Why tf would I watch more after watching a few games of straight arse product.

I've watched and even supported MM for his first few years. I was even cautiously optimistic, going into conference play. I've seen enough and no longer support him. He's had enough time. He ain't the dude.

Serious dude? You know who Ricky Blanton is? I watched that guy live, so don't tell me I'm not an MBB fan. However, what we've put on the court over the last 20 years has been disgraceful, apart from a few Brady and Wade years its all been shite.

My family has had season tickets since Maravich was playing in the Cow Palace. We still have season tickets and my dad still goes.
I was there for the Missouri win with him and my son. Other than that I dont have any interest supporting this garbage arse product until CMM is fired. For reference I watched or was at every game WW coached while he was here.

People don’t watch teams that suck.
Your first time following sports?

Let me help you grandpa. You are not an LSU basketball fan... anymore.
We've made multiple sweet 16s in that period. You didn't watch?

What have they missed? The worst 4 year stretch since before Press Maravich arrived at LSU?

I’ll admit I haven’t watched much LSU basketball since Wade was run off.
Why you ask?
Because I’m an adult now and migrate towards things that make me happy.
The current state of LSU basketball is not one of those items on my happy list.

LOL, and who cares about yours?

Fan interest is earned on the court, not demanded on the internet.
I watched them until it was obvious that they still suck and that MM will never turn the corner. The LSU leadership needs to respond to his continued lack of success (or even progression towards success) and the dwindling demand/interest from fans.

I haven’t really watched since Dale Brown retired.

This is the way sports are. They are called bandwagon fans. As much as some people hate bandwagon fans, they are the single best indicator(outside of the W-L columns) that your team is doing something right. Either you are having an epic season, or you are consistently very competitive. I would take either right now.

It's not a brag, it's a virtue signal, which ironically, is something most of those same people denigrate others for.
My advice is don't worry about them and don't give them too much time on here (like don't start this thread), but I do realize it is difficult not to respond at times.
And don't conflate the frustration you see from some as a lack of fandome. As I have gotten older, I have come to realize that "true fandom" is as individual as our tastes in music or food so I try not to use that anymore( I still fail miserably at it though

LSU cares 0 about their fans or program by allowing this to continue. By watching just 1 game a season you’re putting more effort into the team/program than the school is. Watching this team makes you an enabler, enabling habitual mediocrity. If everyone agreed to stop watching last season and stuck to it, we would have a new coach.

If McMahon is retained, then this is 100% correct. There is no logical way to argue otherwise, because ANY other coach at LSU in ANY other sport at LSU with such a dismal record would have been let go years ago. If MM is retained, the AD should issue a press release saying "Coach McMahon will continue to be the LSU basketball coach...because we don't care if the program wins or loses.....season tickets for 26-27 are now on sale!"

Unfortunately, that is not the case. It would not have mattered if the average attendance for the game last season was 100 people. The (former) president and (former) AD were NOT firing McMahon for totally selfish reasons. They were NOT going to allow the LSU job to be open while Wade was having success at McNeese because the (current) chairman of the BOS, along with other connected people, including the governor, were demanding LSU rehire Wade.
