Sounds like TN wants that historic property, and they will get it through abusing their power and confiscatory taxes rather than eminent domain and having to pay fair market value for it and relocate the business.

Let me guess, that property will be used for section 8 housing illustrating the warmth of collectivism.

Or a developer is eyeing it and is either friends with the mayor or offered them a hefty campaign contribution

Hopefully the current owner knows some good attorneys

This seems very suspect

Will the subsequent owner be subject to these same taxes?

Or someone did a study of “underutilized” properties and how to maximize tax revenue.

This. A bunch of money is greasing some palms (with more promised in the future) and much of it will come indirectly from taxpayers.

Nashville is quickly becoming one of the worst large cities in the south. It’s amazing how quickly it’s happening.

Those Yankees up there in Tennessee have completely ruined their state. Sad to see such a beautiful part of the country get ruined by union-loving fricktards.

It's not all that quick IMO. It seems to have been happening for the past decade at least.

It's not just him. Everyone's taxes sky rocketed after new property value appraisals. Borrom line is its a high demand area and is being gentrified. Big corporations are going to force these "mom and pops" out of the area

I think it's more the artsy mindset. Yeah, every big city in the SE has plenty of transplants but Nashville natives also skew liberal from what I see.

How could the property tax be raised just for that property and not surrounding property as well ? Seems a bit of a court case.

Lots of people on here always celebrate property taxes as some superior form of taxation, but frick all that bullshite. Also the "assessed value" malarky is complete bullshite, along with the whole "you never own your property" angle. frick property taxes.

That’s Democrat policy for ya. Run small business out, replace with big corp. then spend decades vilifying big corp. in public while taking their money in private.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

In Florida, there will be a vote on a constitutional amendment to get rid of property taxes

I see it passing and then who knows what happens next but there has to be a significant raise in other local taxes to fund school

I'm fine with that. Property taxes are evil.
